Chapter 54

»I can't believe it's already the end of the week again.«

Charles laid cuddled up together with Valerie in bed. The burning sun of Madrid shone through the window and reflected on the TV, where a movie was playing.
She sighed.

»Yeah, time's running.«, Valerie looked up to him, »don't forget that I'll be gone by tomorrow morning.«

Charles exhaled deeply.
»Please don't remind me. What am I supposed to do without you?«

Valerie, Blanca and Juliette planned their wellness-girls-trip that weekend and Charles tried to convince them that he could come with all week.
He only meant it ironically, of course.

In fact, he was glad that Valerie spent time with her sister and her best friend and got the chance to relax for a weekend. It could also only be good for her heart.

But being apart from her for only seconds made his own heart ache.
What could he say? He was madly in love.

»You'll live.«, she chuckled and tapped him on his chest.
»You sure?« Charles pulled her closer to his body and let his hand glide around her waist, »I don't like to share you with anybody.«

He sounded like an offended child.

All Valerie could do was laugh.
»You can spend some time with Carlos while I'm away. For two days.« She made the last part sound really dramatic to remind her boyfriend that she wasn't making a journey around the whole world, just to a wellness-hotel in Paris.

»It's not like I wouldn't see your brother every day, anyways.«
Charles and Valerie were together almost every day, so their family's were connected as well.
»And in fact, I will probably see you again next week, in Belgium. I have to fly there before you get back here.«

Valerie chuckled. »It won't be that long.«

She took his hand. »You really have to get out, have some fun.«
She gave him a clap on his thigh to give him a peek of motivation.

»I'm having enough fun only with you.«
Valerie couldn't see his face, but she could hear the smirk in his voice.

»Charles.«

Now he knew she was serious.

»When was the last time you hung out with Pierre? And I don't mean giving him a handshake after a race.« Her voice was very serious, and it made Charles feel a little uneasy.

He wondered what the sudden mood change was about.

But he gave himself to the question.
And he had to think longer than he wished to.

»Uhm...«

»You see? You have to get out of here, meet friends, have fun.«

»Are you saying that you don't like to spend time with me?«

Valerie sighed.
»No, amor. I love being with you. But you have to mind your own matters, too.«

He went silent for a moment.
»Fair enough.«

»Let's just enjoy our evening before we won't see each other for horrible days.«, she suggested with a chuckle.

»Alright, come here.«
Charles forced her to turn around, facing him.
He fought with her for a kiss until she finally gave in.
»I always get what I want.« And his mouth formed into a wide smile.

»Do you really have to go already?«
Charles helped Valerie and her sister to get their suitcases to the front door.
