"Why was your husband crying after speaking to you?, What did you say to him?" Her father said trying not to get angry as she took a gulp knowing where this is getting to.

"Na'am" she said as her father frowned

"Are you deaf?" He asked as Aliyu stood up to sit next to his wife wrapping his hand around her waist as everyone looked at them

"Dad, she didn't say anything mean to me I just misunderstood her and it had an effect on me" Aliyu said as he looked at his wife who had a look of fear in her eyes as he nodded at her giving her an assuring look

Why was Maryam scared?

"Aliyu, we'll prefer Maryam answer this question herself" Mukhtar said as she looked at him, the look on his face was clear to her, he wasn't playing

"What did you say to your husband?" He asked as she looked at Aliyu before looking back at the family

"I-i-i scolded him" she said as they looked between themselves before looking back at her

"Why?" Her father asked

"I was upset with him" she said

"What did he do to make you upset, weren't you smiling with him earlier today how did you change so quickly" Her mother in-law said as she looked at her

"Ummah, I'm sorry..." Maryam said as she cuts her off

"Sorry for what?, Why are you apologizing to me will it change the fact that his health has worsened cause of you..." Her mother in-law said as Aliyu cuts her off

"Mum please" he said almost like a yell

"You can't talk to my wife in that manner, I don't like it" he said again a bit angry as his mum looked at him in disbelief.

(Aliyu's mum name is Hajiya Nafisa)

"Aliyu I'm only looking out for you, what did you even do to make her upset" his mum asked as Aliyu looked at Maryam before looking back at his mum

"I..." Maryam said as Aliyu cuts her off

"I threatened to take the babies away from her" Aliyu said lying

"What" the whole family exclaimed

"We don't understand, what do you mean threatened to take the babies away from her" his father said, his actually playing along cause he knew Aliyu was lying.

"I told her to come stay with me but she said she wanted to stay with her family and wasn't ready to move in so I told her I'll take her babies away to make her accept coming back home to stay with me but she got upset instead and that made me feel bad and my health over reacted a bit" Aliyu said as Maryam kept her gaze on him, how would he be covering up for her after the way she treated him.

What is wrong with him, didn't he want her to get scolded for slapping him and speaking to him in that manner, Maryam thought to herself

"Can you explain the handprint on your face then?" His mum said as he looked at his wife before looking back at her

"I Sla..." Maryam was about to say as Aliyu stopped her, not with his words but with a kiss which went as a shock to both her and the entire family.

Maryam sat frozen in her spot with her eyes wide opened while her husband sat next to her with his two hands caressing her waist and back while he explored her mouth with his eyes closed.
