[Junghwan POV] A vintage house, with tall windows and a huge terrace on the second floor. A tune starts to sound. A piano. I don't know that tune, but it hypnotizes me, it lures me in.
"Happy birthday, Dobby."
[SO JUNGHWAN X KIM DOYOUNG]
Seems like rainy season is finally over, since we have had several sunny days, without a cloud in the sky.
I'm in my bedroom, sitting in front of my desk, with my books and notebooks covering the whole surface. I've done some of the math problems, but I feel unable to continue and finish them. So, there I am, with my window open, waiting for my neighbor (probably the little princess who lives at the other side of the fence) to start their piano session of the day.
Just as usual, a new melody slips thorough my open window and fills every corner of my bedroom. I take my pencil again, and go back to my homework.
Today's melody is faster. Happier. I don't know how it does it, but it fills me with energy. Before I realize, I have already finished my math problems, and since that's the only homework for the day, I finally drop the pencil and proceed to just enjoy the melody. Enjoy the weather. Enjoy my afternoon.
Still, this time, something catches my eye. I've look out of my window, and this time I see a figure in my neighbor's terrace. The pianist.
It's not a girl. My daydreams of a little princess living in that pretty house soon vanish, and instead of that, now I'm looking at a guy dressed in brown pants, white shirt and a khaki vest.
Definitely rainy season is over, since the piano, a huge piano, is now placed in the terrace too. I know nothing about pianos. I just know this one is big, and it has what I assume is the cover, slightly opened. Is this what they call a grand piano? From where I am, the only thing I can certainly say is the piano is black. The tiny stool where the pianist is sitting is also black.
With the view of the beautiful garden at his feet, plus the sunset that slowly embraces everything, the view makes me think of a postcard. I move my chair close to the window, and lay against the ledge. I close my eyes, and proceed to just enjoy the melody.
Approximately half an hour later, whatever he's playing finally comes to an end, and I open my eyes again. The pianist is covering the piano keys, and after getting up, he turns to fix the stool, and I can finally see his face.
It's the kid from school, Kim... What did my friends say it's his name? I make an effort to remember.
Kim Doyoung. Third year.
"Wow..." I can't help to whisper, as I see him get inside his house.
Who would've thought the kid that's bullied at school is my neighbor.
