"I got your birthday present ready, Hwanie." Doyoung says on Friday, during school.

I'm about to answer saying there's no better birthday present than to eat lunch with him once again, and walk back home together, when he soon adds:

"Can you come tomorrow to my place, and bring something to record?"

"Sure." I say, a little bit confused. "You think my phone will be enough? What time you want me to be there?"

I'm at the Kim's household at three sharp.

"Happy birthday." Says Ms. Kim as she lets me in, and soon enough adds. "Cake. I hope chocolate's your favorite."

"I'm so sorry to be such a bother, Ms. Kim."

"Not at all." She replies, and smiles warmly. "This house had never sound so alive before you came. Now, upstairs, I'll bring the cake in a moment."

I walk in Doyoung's bedroom and see him lying in his bed. He holds some music sheets in his hands, and it's looking at them, closely. When he hears me closing the door, he turns and sees me, and can't help but smile.

"Come on." He says, and he reaches out his arm. I hurry and walk up to him, take his hand, and help him get up. Still holding his hand, I take him out to the terrace.

After helping Doyoung sit in the piano bench, I sit in the sofa that's by his right side.

"You brought something to record?"

I take out my phone, and open the app, as Doyoung fixes his music sheets in front of him, clipping them properly so the wind won't take them away.

I get up and offer him my phone, Doyoung takes it and places it on top of the piano, making sure it won't fall. After pointing to the buttons to start and stop recording, I sit on the sofa once again, and wait. Doyoung breathes deeply, presses the button, and after placing his hands on the piano, he finally starts playing.

Dearly Beloved embraces us instantly.

As soon as he's done, Doyoung finishes the recording, and turns around to give me my phone back. As a shy smile appears in his face, he asks me:

"Did you like it? It's the first time I play it, since I didn't want you to listen to me practicing it beforehand, so I probably messed up a couple of times..."

I got no time to reply when Ms. Kim walks in, with our chocolate cake slices.

But, to be honest, I liked it a lot. Not only the melody, or his interpretation, but the fact that he decided to record it, and thus I can have this memory forever.
