My jaw drops as I digest the words that just came out of Rome's mouth. I had no clue that this new friend that I made was the ex that I've been hearing so much about. The look on Rome's face is stern but it doesn't seem like he's mad, if anything it looks like he's confused. Look's like he's currently battling more than one emotion. . . Before I even got the chance to respond to what Rome just said, I was cut off by Lando's voice.
"Hey Fendi....Hey Romeo." Even though he greeted the both of us, he was staring Rome in his eyes the whole time. "Hey ya'll" I say while hugging him and Ashanti as Ashanti gives me a knowing look as if she's feeling the same awkwardness that I'm feeling.
"Is there a ghost behind me?" Lando asks us as we all look behind him. I look back at him and shake my head, "no why?"
"Because the look on Rome's face is as if he's looking at a ghost or some shit. Tighten up boy, don't make this awkward. It doesn't have to be." He says while smiling at Rome and walks up to give him a hug. And just like that, Rome's whole attitude changed as he hugged the smaller boy tight and he started smiling as well. It was as if Rome was waiting to see if Lando was still mad at him or not, he seemed to be holding his breath the entire time.
Rome chuckled while they hugged and started speaking, "my bad pooh, you caught a nigga off guard. . . I done had at least four guns pointed to my face my whole life but ain't none of them make me freeze up and make my heart beat fast like you did just now." I hear Ashanti say aww while standing next to me and I couldn't help but say it as well. This was way too cute.
"Now sir who told you that you could still call me pooh?" Lando says while staring up at him.
"Oh shit my bad, it's a force of habit." Rome says as they finally let each other go from the hug that neither of them expected to last that long. . . "I'm just fucking with you boy. Not you over here shook and panicking" Lando tells him while laughing and in return, we all start laughing with him.
"Well our table is over there where Leaf and Kash are sitting." Rome points to the table and when Lando spots Kash he looks back at me and sends a smirk my way and I roll my eyes. . . "Y'all can grab a seat over there while we get our plates." Ashanti and Lando nod their heads and start making their way to the table as me and Rome make our way to the food.
"You good?" I ask Rome as we both fill up our plates with different foods. All of it actually looks really great.
"More than good. I ain't gon lie, I was nervous as hell seeing him again cuz I ain't know what type of vibe he was gonna give off but he's still the same. Still my pooh. It seems as if he put all of the drama behind him and matured a bit and I like that. I ain't naive enough to think we'll get back together though because I put him through a lot, but I do appreciate the fact that he's not treating me like a stranger." I nod in understanding as we start walking back to the table but I still had one more question to ask him before we got there.
