 *Three Years Later*

 Kristi's POV:

I'm standing with papa, waiting for Mirabel to come and walk down the aisle for her gift ceremony. Honestly, Mirabel and abuela seem close. It's really cute. Like, a few minutes ago, abuela was telling Mirabel about how we got our miracle. I was curious to see what gift Mirabel would be given. She was a sweet child. Cute and curious.

Camilo had already had his gift ceremony. His gift, honestly, it suits him. His gift is shapeshifting. And he's already scaring the living daylights out of me with it. The amount of time he shapeshifts into papa to prank me is insane. Camilo is funny, energetic, and loves his food. He certainly loves to prank people. But, he's also sweet sometimes.

"Papa, what gift do you think Mirabel will have?" I asked in a low tone. The ceremony was about to start.

"I don't know, angel..." Somehow, papa looked a little tense. Like he had a feeling something bad was gonna happen. That sometimes happens to him. But, he can see the future, so I guess it makes sense.

 "Papa, is something wrong...?"

"I don't know, angel....I'm really not sure..." he said quietly. He then knelt down, giving me a smile. "It's ok, princess. Don't worry..." I nodded hesitantly and gave a squeal of delight as papa lifted me up and put me on his shoulders. "Now you have a better view." papa smiled. I smiled back down at him.

It was finally time for Mirabel to walk down the aisle. She looked excited, but, maybe a little nervous. When she reached abuela, who stood by her door, holding the candle, she put her hands on the candle and looked at abuela.

"Will you serve our community? Our strength, our home?" abuela asked.

Mirabel nodded. She wiped her hands on her dress and reached out for the doorknob. But, to everyone's surprise, the door vanished. Mirabel looked over at abuela, looking sad. Abuela looked worried.

"Papa...What does this mean...? Is something wrong with the magic or-?" I asked.

"I don't know, Kristi..." he said softly.

Abuela reassured all the townspeople and sent them home. Papa and I were about to go to my room, so papa could tuck me in, but abuela called to him. Papa had put me down by this time, but we were hand-in-hand.

"Bruno, I am worried about the magic. This has never happened before. I want you to look into the future and see what this means for us."

Papa nodded. "Yes, mama. Right after I tend to Kristi." Abuela nodded, not looking happy that he wasn't looking into the future first.

 Bruno's POV:

I was tucking my daughter in bed when she asked me something.

"Papa, is everything going to be ok..?" she asked softly.

"I'm sure everything will be ok, my little angel. Don't worry," I told her, placing a kiss on her forehead.

"Papa..." she looked a little scared...Maybe nervous.

 "Yes, Kristi?"

 "I'm scared..."

"Of what?" I asked, frowning. I sat down on the edge of her bed, stroking her hair.

"I don't really know...But I have a bad feeling...Papa, can you promise me something...?" she asked, frowning a little.

"Anything, my little princess. You know I'll keep it."

"Promise you'll never leave me? You'll always love me and be there for me...?"

I stared at her, wondering what brought this on. Finally I smiled at her. "Of course, angel. I will never leave you. I love you. I always have, and I always will. And I'll always be there for you, no matter what."

Kristi smiled up at me. "Will you sing to me, papa?"

"Of course I will," I smiled down at her. I closed my eyes, taking a deep breath as I began to sing our song.

As I stood in the doorway, watching my sleeping daughter roll over, a small smile on her little face, I smiled. "I love you, Kristi."

Little did I know, that that last conversation with my daughter, would be my last for years to come. It would play in my mind over and over. My promise haunting me, causing me to feel like I broke it and abandoned her. Making me feel like a failure.

 Third Person POV:

Bruno had already had his vision. Bruno hated what he was about to do, but he had to do it. For Mirabel's sake.

He had another vision right after he made his decision, hoping to see if his daughter would be alright. What he saw, broke his heart. He saw himself and Kristi having an argument. He looked so hurt and sad. Kristi looked angry. He looked down at the tablet in his hands, tears coming to his eyes.

"I'm so sorry....My little angel..." he said quietly.

He quickly wrote a note and took out the only other ruana he had out of the closet. It was Kristi's favorite between the two. He quietly went into her room and placed the ruana and the note on her desk. He kissed her cheek as she slept. He looked at her, tears rolling down his cheeks.

"I love you, my princess. More than you could ever know..." And with that, he left her room.

 Kristi's POV:

I woke up the next morning. I was confused as to why I wasn't woken up in the middle of the night by one of papa's nightmares. Or why he hadn't come to wake me up. I frowned as I noticed papa's ruana and a piece of paper on my desk. I got out of bed and picked up the note. Tears flowed freely down my cheeks, my eyes wide as I read it.

 'My sweet little angel,

I am so very sorry.....But I have to do this...I hope you don't hate me too
much...Please know you will always be my little angel and my princess,
no matter what. I love you more than you could ever know. You mean the world
to me, Kristi. I hope we can see each other again someday. But for now, goodbye, my
 little daughter. I love you.

             Love Always,
                   Papa

P.S. I want you to have my ruana to remember me by. I won't ever forget you...And, I hope,
 you won't forget me.'

"Papa! No!" I cried out, falling to the floor, crying bitterly.

"Kristi, what's wrong?! I heard you cry out and-" Delores exclaimed, coming into my room. I didn't answer her. I couldn't. My crying prevented me from answering.

She frowned, walking over to me. I gave her the note and she read it. She frowned, remaining quiet. She looked down at me before kneeling down and hugging me tight. She seemed to know I really needed this right now. "I'm so sorry..." she whispered. I would've answered her, but I just sat there in her arms, crying, one thing in my mind.

 My papa had left me....
