We got to the hotel feeling on edge. We were just north of the facility, and there seemed to be a dark aura coming from the south. Perhaps it was just our fear of what was to come, or maybe it was something more.

My phone dinged in my pocket, and I pulled it out and saw a text from Tom.

Tom_ass: Broski, I think we r fuked.

I had been texting him vague updates, but I thought it better not to give him too much information since he was in close contact with the other side. He also agreed, so we only texted about mundane things or my boyfriends. So, for him to be texting this at this time... It probably wasn't good.

Poseidon: What's going on?

Tom_ass: They don't usually let me leave my computer station or room, but they moved me to somewhere else and locked me in here, bro. On the way here there was like a huge ass pit full of dudes with vests and guns. nevr seen them b4.

I bit the inside of my cheek and realized that Tom was probably at the Kansas facility. But I couldn't tell him that we already knew and were on the move.

Poseidon: Gotcha. Did you see anything else?

Tom_ass: A scarylookin mother fuker looking like she came out of the Ring. I thought she was another patient tho.

Poseidon: Alright. Keep me updated.

 Tom_ass: will doo

I guessed that the scary-looking lady was the one Atlas ran into. That poor woman. It did not sound like she was having a very good time.

Saya noticed my complicated expression and asked what was wrong. I showed him the texts. "My friend Tom is at the Kansas facility. He was talking about what you guys saw. It just worries me that they moved him for some reason."

He frowned. "I can go get him."

I hesitated, then shook my head. "It was too risky last time you guys went. And Tom is under pretty close surveillance it seems like, so it will probably be better to wait till we get to the place."

"Oh, I see." He seemed a bit disheartened. I rubbed the top of his hand with a finger. "You are doing a great job, Saya. Everything you do is amazing, but this time, I'd rather you not take the chance. Tom will be alright till we get there."

He blushed and nodded. I grabbed his hand and held it in mine. "Your power isn't without repercussion. I want to make sure one of the most important people to me doesn't get hurt because he feels like he needs to keep working."

"Oh," He pipped. "I-I see."

I studied him for a second, noting how his eyes held a certain light that made them seem so very warm. "You've got beautiful eyes," I said.

He seemed stunned when I said that. "But your eyes are beautiful. They're like the Pacific," he said.

I smiled a little. "Yours are like a bed I could sleep on forever. Somewhere I could rest and be happy no matter what's happening."

He snickered. "That's a strange comparison."

I shrugged and sat back in the chair I was sitting in. "It's just what they are like. It's beautiful."

Josiah came around with a room key card. "It's room 312. The others are checking out the buffet if you want to join. I'm going to take a nap."

I felt an eagerness from Saya. He was very interested in a buffet. "Go get something to eat. I'm going to nap too," I told him, tapping his hand before letting it go. I got up from the chair and joined Josiah. Saya went to eat.
