Liam went wide-eyed, shining the flashlight at the two lizard things. "What the...? What type of gootraxian is that?!" We all had stopped and were skeptically observing, from a decent distance, the new gootraxians before us. Both seemed to be some sort of black lizard type with fur; they were mostly gray with leaf-like markings on their arms and ears; purple markings, that glowed, were found from their torso and throughout the bottom of their tails. They also wore a pair of gloves.

"Maybe they can't see us," Liam remarked, noting how they were just standing there, as if on guard. He narrowed the beam of the flashlight and forced the two gootraxians to squint their eyes and turn away with a hiss. Their eyes dilated to pinpricks. We stayed there for a few moments seeing if they would do anything, but they just kept looking away from the beam.

"T-they definitely can," Katy replied.

"Yeah, but it's just the two of them versus the five of us," the scientist with their arm in a sling said. A nearby fire ax case was wide open and he took the item inside with his good hand. "This'll do!"

We all raised our weapons and began approaching the pair. My eyes had managed to spot something lurking in the darkness, just barely out of the light. I saw three glowing eyes stare us down from further down the corridor, studying us. Its eyes fell on me, looked me up and down, and then disappeared out of sight. The other two goos let out another set of hisses at Liam's flashlight and then took off.

"See? They ran from us, must be skittish." He walked into the room, the axehead clanging to the ground as he lazily dragged it behind him. We followed into the cafeteria. The place was trashed, literally. Trash and food littered the floors, but worst of all there was not a single person. Only goo puddles here and there and a lot of deep claw marks on the walls and floor.

"What the...?" Liam scanned the room, flashing the beam of light everywhere. "These... these are panther claw marks!"

"Wait, they got overrun by panthers while we were gone?!" Katy asked.

"It would seem... so. T-there has to be at least one person left, a body maybe? Anything? There is no way that they got wiped out this fast." He looked around the cafeteria desperately, even peering behind boxes and jumping over the counter.

I threw a few looks around too but didn't see anything. "I don't see anyone else. Maybe it really is just us." A coppery smell reached my nose. "Hey, do you guys smell that?"

"No, what are you talking about?"

I sniffed a few more times and redirected my eyes to where the smell seemed to be coming from.

"Over here!" I called them all over.

There was blood smeared on the ground leading to the freezer. We were about to enter but heard the sounds of something hissing and struggling.

"Cut it out!" I heard one of them hiss.

"What's gotten into you?!" The other snarled.

"Everyone ready?" Liam asked, waiting for head nods from all of us.

With a nod from the five of us, we entered the freezer with our weapons raised. Liam raised the flashlight to reveal three panthers fighting over something. They were all covered in scratches that were leaking grey goo... grey blood? Maybe the goo is blood for gootraxians? Two of them were trying to hold the third panther still. The third stood out from the others. It somehow seemed to be more "feral" and had the most amount of scratches of the trio. The others were about to attack but stopped to see that Liam was sweating and began aggressively tapping us to move back.

"GO GO GO GO!" He began mouthing desperately while he pushed us out.

One of the panthers noticed us and broke from the fight to try and get the other two's attention. "S-SNAP OUT OF IT," it hissed, trying to catch its breath. "There are four humans!"
