It's the 4th of July and Y/n enters the dark office, wearing a purple Kimono and his hair nicely done. He looks over and sees Kunikida sitting at his desk typing away at his computer.
"Kunikida! What're you doing here? I've been looking all over for you!" Y/n said with a bit of annoyance and approaching Kunikida's desk.
His expression is plain and serious as ever, but when Viktor speaks, a light appears in his green eyes "Ah yes, Y/n-chan. Just... following the schedule written in my journal. What brings you to the Agency at this time?"
"Your gonna miss the fireworks! H-hey where's your Kimono..." Y/n sighs in annoyance and crosses his arms while tapping his foot.
"My schedule doesn't involve going to see fireworks. Besides, you're interrupting my work." Kunikida says this with a flat tone. He doesn't show a grain of emotion on his face as he continues typing away.
Y/n just stands there, looking genuinely disappointed that Kunikida won't join him, considering it's Y/n's first year celebrating the 4th of July in Japan.
"It's the usual fireworks, nothing much, I've seen them all before. It's important I stick to my schedule." Kunikida takes another sip of water as he continues pounding away on the keyboard.
"Whatever..." Y/n sighs in disappointment, maybe even a bit of sadness, while he turns away and walks out of the office.
Kunikida stares at Viktor's back as he walks away. He feels a sense of conflict within himself. Then, with a sigh, he walks over to the window and peers outside.
He sees crowds of people walking with colorful fireworks light up the night sky. Kunikida glances at his watch and sighs again as he opens the window a bit. The sounds of laughter, children's chatter, and the sparkling fireworks fill the air.
A few moments later Y/n is sitting on a small field in the view of the office, sitting alone on the grass while eating a few dango's and watching the fireworks.
Kunikida glances outside at the small field. Seeing the young detective sitting by himself and eating what looks like a small treat, Kunikida pauses for a moment.
Kunikida starts thinking to himself, "Should I accompany him? If I do, that would mean I could also see the fireworks. But... if I ignore what's written in my notebook then it might bring up a lot more problems later on." Kunikida's very conflicted at this point.
While Kunikida thinks he notices something, it's hard considering the distance but he notices Y/n's eyes are quite watery, he looks like he's on the verge of crying... Kunikida sighs and he starts to walk outside.
It isn't until he reaches Y/n and crouches down next to him that we realize that Kunikida has changed out of his business attire and is wearing a purple kimono with black patterns. On his head is a purple and gold Japanese hat.
Kunikida also has a small wooden tray filled with dango and a warm ceramic cup of tea. He places these items down next to Y/n. "Why do you look so unhappy?"
Y/n is quite surprised by Kunikida's sudden appearance, he quickly wipes away his tears and finishes his dango stick before looking at Kunikida with a fake smile, "Don't worry Kunikida im alright, thank you" he softly said.
They both watch the sky as the sparkling lights change colors as the fireworks reach their end. "H-hey... would you mind staying here with me a bit longer? Even though the fireworks are done." Kunikida says, glancing over at Y/n with a small smile.
"Sure, I don't see why not.." Y/n smiles and gets a bit more comfortable on the grass, carefully picking up one of the hot tea cups and sipping a bit of it.
