Wretched Lies

Blackness covered my eyes and I felt trapped in eternal darkness. I looked around, attempting to look for a glimpse of light.

 “Charlotte? Curt?”

I was hearing Verande but she sounded a million miles away from me. “My lady, can you hear me,” Curt asked. “I… I can’t see. It seems that I’ve passed out but my vision isn’t back yet.” “Ughh… My eyes hurt like crazy,” I was hurting all over but my eyes were hurting most, like they were throbbing or something. “Verande can you get me some water?” I could feel her still standing in front of me so I said “Verande Victoria Vernandez can you please be so kind as to at least get Curt some ice and water?” I looked (err well at least I think I did) at her and smiled while cocking my head to the side. She mumbles a sure and walked out of the room.

I bring my hands to my eyes and try rubbing out the blackness from my eyes but fail to do so. “Curt?” I asked. “Yes, my lady?” he responded. “Will we get our vision back?” “Of course we will. My vision is actually starting to blur back, my lady.” He said sounding somewhat happy. I sat there and blinked hard and saw what he meant. My vision was becoming clearer. I smiled when I caught a glimpse of Verande walking in pouting. “Stop pouting Verande.” I said, smiling to myself. She jumped and said “Psshh. Watch it or I’ll take it back.” She was turning to go put the stuff back until I laughed “No! Stop it. Curt needs this.” She smiled mischievously and walked towards Curt. She placed the tray beside Curt and grabbed the cup of ice. She placed it in front of him, grabbing a towel to unfold it and put the ice in it. “This may hurt, uh Curt.” She said awkwardly.

“It is fine. My lady needs to be healed. So, please be quick about it.” Curt said, struggling with words. “Yeah, okay.” She replied quickly. I could see her grab the towel filled with ice and put it on his eyes barely. I could hear him groan as the pain hit him… and me.

Cold hands then tangled themselves into mine and I tried to see where they came from. I followed the arm and I saw that it was Curt. “Curt, your hands are extremely cold. Are you sure you’re gonna be okay?” I asked. “Yes. I just needed a connection from you so that I won’t get… uh how do you say? Sick? Or is it weak?” he said confused. “Weak and I understand. It’s fine.” I said after looking away. I felt embarrassed and awkward holding a guys hand. I’d never really been with a guy before. Scratch that I’ve been with guys; Sage, Abraham, and Blake, but with all guys I didn’t really feel that “zing”. I mean I probably felt amazing when they each gave me that one kiss but it didn’t really feel right.

So, I’m definitely not counting Sage’s kiss as my… Oh my god. Sage took my first kiss! Wait no. I said I wasn’t gonna count that. Okay. Okay calm down. I breathed in and out before Curt tiredly said “My lady? Are you alright? You look puzzled.” “I’m fine,” I say as I noticed I can see again. “Oh! I can see again!” I was smiling, happy to see things again. I got up and went Verande’s dresser to found her clock that read:

 8:04 p.m.

“Well I guess I’ll go tell my parents that ya’ll are gonna be coming down?” Verande said while picking up all the items scattered on the floor. “Uh, they won’t freak on Curt?” I asked. “Hmmm… No not really. I’ll just say you finally got a boyfriend.” She said smiling. “Verande, we can’t lie to your parents,” “, but then again we kind of have to. They’re rich. What do you think they’ll do once they find out you’re a werewolf?” I thought about it and visions were crossing my mind and I got scared. “Yeah, that’s what I thought missy.” She said smiling.

“Okay okay. Let us stay for a while to heal for a bit more.” I said. “He looks like he’s getting better.” She said softly. I looked at the fallen asleep Curt and nod. He does look better. Much better actually. His hair wasn’t ruffled anymore (although I have no idea why it was in the first place) and his bruises were only pink and a bit reddish. I looked up and said “Okay Verande. Go downstairs and I’ll meet up with you. I’m gonna wake up Curt and create a plan.” She nodded and went downstairs. I nudged at Curt and softly whispered “Hey Curt. Wake up.” He whined and opened his eyes slowly. He looked at me and his eyes immediately opened. “Yes, my lady?” “Stop calling me that. Talk right.” I said smiling awkwardly. “But I am my--.” He stopped and looked at me. “I mean Charlotte.”
