Chapter Nineteen (A Day with You)

I stood there blank. What had just happened? Why was Blake on his knee in front of me? I looked around the room. “What happened?” is what I wanted to ask. What did he say to me? I touched Blake on his hand, he flinched slightly.

"Get up," I told him softly. His face looked like it went through shock, as if I had said something wrong. "What?" I asked.

"You can just say no, Charlie." Blake replied sadly.

"What do you mean I could've said no?" I asked, really confused.

"I asked if you would marry me and you just tell me to get up." He started to raise his voice. "What do you leave me thinking after you say that? Huh?"

"Y-you asked me that?" I asked before he started a tirade. Inside I was starting to actually feel bubbly and excited. He nodded. I couldn't help but smile a little. I looked at everyone in the room. Grandma smiled, waiting for my answer also. Verande sat chilled in the love seat, when she actually was jumping up and down inside. Abraham was red with anger. And Edaniel was shocked beyond words. “Blake?”

 “Yes?” he replied.

“What if was an annoying wife?” I asked smiling.

“I’d love you anyways of course.” He replied smiling, and blushing.

“Then my answer is ‘of course’.” I replied. He looked at me immediately. I was beginning to smile when a burning sensation began at my face. I could tell Blake felt it too because he touched his face the same way I did. I fell to my knees as the sensation gathered at my ankles literally burning at my ankles. As I fell I rolled up in a ball holding my ankles, crying in agony. I looked over at Blake who had also fallen along with me. I was barely able to look at him though because bright lights were emitting from his face and legs.

 What had happened?

What’s wrong with us?

So many thoughts began running through my head as I started to worry. Granny kneeled down next to me and pulled me up into her arms as she sat down. “Do not worry granddaughter you are going through the changing process of which mates go through. You have accepted your own so be grateful you didn’t have to bear a worse pain then this.” I looked up at her, and she looked at me with eyes that were filled with wisdom. I trusted her, always and forever.

“Granny,” I gasped for air. “Am I… going to be… alright?”

 “Yes.” She replied.

I pushed myself off her and made my body force itself upward. I had to get up. No more depending on people. I stood up straight and sucked in air. But I didn’t need to do that for long because the pain immediately disappeared. I sighed in relief. Thank the heavens. I didn’t need to go through that anymore. Blake slowly got on his knees and I went to him and grabbed his arm, helping him get up. I raised my eyebrows as I looked at Blake’s face closely.

“What is it?” He asked, blushing.

“You have red tattoos along your cheek and neck.” I replied. His eyes went big as he looked at my face as well.

“You, too!” He exclaimed. “But yours are a bright baby blue.” We looked at each in awe.

“You are both now only being half way mates. Blake, you know what that means..” My granny spoke.

Blake and I looked at her and blushed brightly. Why do we get tattoos anyways? What was the purpose of this? I first got one of these at Verande’s house yet I wasn’t with my mate at the moment. So many things to ask about, I looked at Granny. She sat on the bed, smiling at us.
