Logan P.O.V (Kate dennings as Carly)

I sat man spread with my head lifted towards the ceiling, listening to the light tick of the clock on the wall that felt louder in a quiet room. Once I was sick of eying the roof, my eyes started examining the room I sat in. The room reminded me of a comfy cottage in the countryside with the string of leaves decor that fell from her curtain's . The color scheme of the room was a dark mint green with the occasional plant sat on the floor and the window seal. the smell of rain drew me into a feeling of comfort.

The sound of the door opening caught my attention. I pushed myself to my feet as Carly finally emerged from her room wearing a light pink mermaid tailed gown that dragged behind her on the floor with sparkly white heels. Her hair was pulled back into a ponytail, and the rest of her hair cascaded down her face. To put the look together, she wore a rose in her hair that complimented the one I wore on my tuxedo.

"Well, how do I look?" She asked, twirling her dress lightly with a smile as bright as her eyes.

"You look.. stunning . " I smiled back, completely stoked by how different she looked from her natural business attire.

"Stunning enough to make a man drop his pants and marry me," she smirked

"Don't know about the first one, but you're definitely gorgeous enough for any man to be lucky to have you," I replied, making her purse her lips before nodding her head slowly. "Okay, I'll take that."

"Thanks, I've been practicing that for an hour," I joked referring to her taking an hour to dress in which she responded with the middle finger. "No wonder the ladies were tearing up Miller corp to get to you," She shot back with an arched brow making me laugh in response.

"Seriously, this is the second time you've been the topic of the company. It's a surprise , Ms. Miller hasn't fired you yet. either she is so busy with this ball, or she has a thing for you. " she laughed to herself, but I felt my blood run cold at that response.

"what gave you that impression?" My voice became stern as my eyes narrowed.

"Well, for one, the old Ms. Miller would've fired you for not being on time had everyone scared shitless of her. " I completely forgot that Carly has known Patience since the beginning of the company so of course she would notice a change in her behavior right away. If only she knew how right she was.

"She's a Millionaire who runs a company I'm sure I'm the last thing on her mind " I tried to play off coolheaded, but I couldn't stop my voice from going up a few octaves obviously rendering me suspicious. Carly took note of it by giving me a strange look from over her shoulder.

"Um okay weirdo let me grab my coat, and we can go before we're late."

"Um, we're already an hour late thanks to you,"

"Fashionably late." She wiggled her brows before returning to her room.

~At the ball~

I knew I was in over my head when my eyes fell upon the place where the ball was being held. As I drove closer, the place only seemed to get larger. The place resembled a castle in a fairytale. It was well lit with spotlights and the parterre garden that wrapped around the palace. The driveway was lined with fancy cars, each one a different brand of luxury vehicle you would see online. Normally, I wouldn't care what people thought, but I still felt out of place with my Nissan Versa that I've had for almost my whole life. It was still good looking for its age, but it still felt out of place compared to the rest of the vehicles.
