Patience P.O.V (danai Gurira as Michelle)
Due to my clothes being unruly and unprofessional to attend any meeting in, I rescheduled the meeting for another day. I could say it was a bad thing, but the truth was I needed the extra time.
Even so, I would be lying if I didn't say I wasn't mad that a damn dog ruined my clothes. especially since mud is hard to get off pure white clothes.
So since I had a few more days until the meeting, I finally took a day off, after working for almost 2 months straight with no break, due to severe planning for the meeting.
I was spending it in the gym jogging steadily on a treadmill while music pumped through my ears, tuning out the rest of the noise in the gym.
Me exercising was the only other way I could deal with my stress in a healthier way and to kept myself from overthinking, but I rarely had the chance to hence why I found simpler methods to relieve myself.
After an hour of just jogging in place, I turnt the treadmill off and grabbed my bottle of water, heading over towards the boxing ring on the other side of the gym.
I stood at a distance away from the ring sipping on my water as two bodies went at it, both delivering one steady punch after another.
The tallest one in the ring was burly and was covered in muscles and veins, staining every inch of his body. His stance was rough and evenly guarded with a smirk that graced his face, his eyes dead set watching the moves of his opponent.
While the competitor was smaller in size and only reached past his abdomen but she held her ground. Her eyes watched his every move, not letting her eyes linger away for a moment.
Unlike the man who stood firm before her, she patted lightly on her feet, dancing like a ballerina mastering her art with confidence in each swing.
They both stood their ground for a moment, watching each others moves. her eyes watched him like an archer looking to plant her arrow into his next move. He did the same that smirk not leaving from his protected teeth.
Just as the room shifted into a tense silence that's when he made the first move striking fast with lighting bolt like speed, but like she could tell the outcome of the battle she ducked fast under his exposed body and with the power of experience and the sweat of training, delivered a gut wrenching blow to his abdomen.
Causing a loud oof sound to ring out of his mouth and to echo across the gym. she held that position as the man's body fell limp spit, drooling down his lips onto the ring, before she moved away as his body sunk to the floor.
The rows of men and women cheered happily screaming their hearts out with their pride and delight, while the other side that betted on the man grumbled and sighed in dismay as they all got up and walked out unsatisfied with the outcome of the match.
The woman in the ring laughed a hearty laugh as she high fived rows of her friends as they gave their congratulations. The man that was once lying on the ground in an unconscious state was now standing being held up by a friend of his as he leaned on him for support.
I heard him mumble a few words to her as a bundle of cash was handed to her in hand. though you could barely hear his voice, her voice could be heard proudly.
Her raspy tenor voice echoed across the gym as she talked with experience, giving words of knowledge to the young man.
Michelle used to be a pro boxer and weighed 5th in women boxing. For almost 10 years, she held up this title until she was injured in a fight that left her with a limb in her left leg. But since she didn't want to totally give up on her dream, she created her own gym and settled for teaching women self-defense.
