"I can't believe he said that! It's so frustrating." Haeseul sat on her office chair throwing her hand on the couch in front of her. She came to the office right after she met Joshua. She wanted to take a leave but she knew getting busy with a ton of work would make her forget everything. While she was trying to calm down, she heard someone knock on her door.

"Come in!" Haeseul said even without opening her eyes.

"What happened? You look so terrible today." Hanbin, a co-worker of her company asked. Also, he is the closest friend of Haeseul's.

"Get lost, Hanbin ah~ I'm not in a mood to argue." She said without looking at him. He sat on a chair in front of her table and gave her the drink he brought for her.

"Okay, take a deep breath and drink this. Getting angry won't solve anything." Hanbin's calm voice made her eyes open. Se grabbed the americano He brought and took a sip.

"So what happened?"

"Just, uhm- you know, peopl-" before she completed she felt like the whole world is spinning around her. Her drink was dropped without her intention. Hanbin made his quick steps towards Haeseul.

"Haeseul, what's go-" He was cut off.

"P- pi..... l..l.s.." Her voice hardly came out.

"What?" Hanbin wanted her to repeat but it was too late. Haeseul unconscious body was in Hanbin's hand. "Somebody help!!! Eunsung ah~" Hanbin shouted as much as he could asking for a help. Another co-worker came inside and called an ambulance.

"What happened to her?" Eunsung asked.

"I don't know." It was Hanbin.

"Ambulance is on their way here."

"I'll inform Mr. Hwang" Said Eunsung and she left to make the call.

Skylar's POV

"Sweetheart"

"Mom? Is this you seriously?" I could not stop my tears. The man in front of me looked at my mom and me from time to time. I did not care about who he was I ran to my mom. As I approached her, I could see the joy and love in her eyes, mirroring my own feelings. The passage of time seemed to melt away as we embraced, her familiar scent and warm touch enveloping me in a sense of security and belonging. At that moment, the countless days of separation vanished, and we were simply mother and child, bound by an unbreakable bond. I know we fought back then. No, not we. Only I fought and this woman in front of me didn't say a word but bore every single hurtful word I said.

"Mom, this isn't a dream, right? You are here, aren't you?" I cried as there was no tomorrow.

"Yes, my angel. It's me... your mother." She also cried with me. I could feel her teardrops as they fell onto my shoulders. Her voice echoed through me like a mesmerizing song. Maybe that's because I'm hearing this after a long time. My mom broke the hug, wiping tears from her eyes and looking at the man behind us. When I turned around with my mother, I saw that the man's eyes were full of tears. I looked back at my mom with a puzzle written on my face.

"Sweetheart, this is not the way I was planning to introduce him." My eyes ran to him again.

"This is your father."

I never thought meeting my father for the first time in my life would be a situation like this. Actually, I had never imagined a situation like that. Also, I never thought mom would let me see my father.
This is an overwhelming moment that words struggle to capture. As I stood there, face-to-face with the man I had only heard about, a whirlwind of emotions washed over me. There was a mix of curiosity, excitement, and a hint of nervousness.

His little steps were getting closer to me. Actually I was struggling with my mind about how to react to him. I know he will definitely hug me but what should I do? Should I hug him back? It will be a little awkward. Encountering my father for the very first time in my teenage was a surreal and complex experience. Mixed emotions flooded my heart as I tried to process the reality of meeting the man I had only known that there was a man called father and not even seen in a picture.

As our eyes met, there was an unspoken acknowledgment of the years lost, yet a glimmer of hope for the relationship that could potentially unfold. Eyes! Now I know from where my Hazel eyes came from. It's from my father. Finally, he hugged me. I'm still finding ways to react. I ran my hand on his back and hugged him back. That's the only thing I could do.

"I miss you so much Skylar." I remained in silence. Even though I wanted to say I missed him too, I've never missed him. I've never met him to miss him. I wanted to see him. That's the truth.

We talked a lot. Definitely, we had to cover up so many things. While we were talking his phone rang.

"Wait a minute Skylar. I have to take this."

"Ah yeah, sure!" He answered the call then I heard someone talking nervously.

"What?" He shouted and it made me jump from my seat. He was so nervous and his eyes said he is afraid of something.

"What happened?" Mom came from the kitchen.

"Okay Eunsung, I'll come." He hung up the call and rushed to take his belongings. I was so surprised by his behavior and mom was trying to ask what was going on. He dragged mom into the corner of the living room and looked at me nervously. He said something to mom and it made mom look so wired. She tried to hide her emotions. She failingly hides her sacredness and sadness with a smile.

"They are hiding something."
