Hay amores que brillan
En la oscuridad
Que pasan a la eternidad
Amores que nunca se dejan vencer
Te elevan, te hacer crecer
Hay amores que sangran
Que son de cristal
Tan facil se pueden romper
Amores que nada los puede atrapar
Y debes dejarlos volarAmor De Cristal - Luja
There was something about Mena's Dad that didn't feel right to me. Maybe, it was the fact that he was submitted to another Alpha already and it made him a danger to my pack. Maybe, it was the fact that it took Mikey to convince him to come check on his daughter instead of him doing it on his own, but I just had an awful feeling that this man coming into her life was going to cause her more pain than happiness.
Especially seeing as every day that passed, she seemed to just get more and more attached to the guy. Regardless of the reason, I didn't like this man one bit, no matter who he was. I was coming into the house back from Jason's when I overheard Mena's conversation with her father.
"I thought maybe I could move in with you," I heard Mena's voice say as I was coming back to go through the stinking dance rehearsals for her Quinceañera. I stopped in my steps as her words processed in my head. What?! She's known this guy for a few months and she's already ready to just go and move in with him?! Is she crazy?! She can't move in with him! "You don't have to answer now, but I was hoping you'd think about it."
"Oh, good, you're here," Mom said finding me as she descended the stairs, "I thought I was going to have to hunt you down." Mom wrapped an arm around my shoulders and began to guiding me toward the backyard.
"Did you hear what Mena just asked?" I asked mom.
"Of course, I did," she replied, "she talked to me and your father about it already."
"And you didn't stop her?" I argued.
"Peter, what is there to stop?" Mom replied.
"Her madness!" I replied, "she can't just up and go with that man! We don't even know anythin-"
"Peter, it's her father," Mom replied, "its only natural she wants to be with him."
"I don't think it's a good idea," I grumbled.
"I get that you're worried," Mom said, "and it warms my heart to see you so concerned considering all you two do is bicker, but you shouldn't. They seem like a very nice family and Xime really seems happy."
I didn't say anything more as I lined up in my spot next to my father as all the chambelanes were lined in order. Because my father was no longer going to do the father/daughter dance with her, Mena gave him a chambelane role.
"Wow, look who made it on time," Dad said.
"Aren't you too old for this?" I retorted.
"Hey, there's no age limit," Dad retorted, "besides you're just worried I'm the better dancer. We both know you got your dancing skills from your mother."
"Hey!" I heard Mom shout from where she was fixing the music making the rest of us laugh as mom pointed a finger at Dad.
"I'm kidding, Honey," Dad smiled holding his hands up in surrender, "You're not that bad."
"Not that bad?!" Mom said dignified, "That's it! Miguel! Come here!" My mom played the music on the stereo before coming over and pulling Mikey into the circle and they began to dance. Everyone clapped to the beat of the song as they 'ayed' and Dad 'booed'.
If I was being honest, mom was probably the best dancer in the pack. It was the reason she was in charge of the choreography for Mena's party. In the middle of her dance, she stepped up in front of Dad and flipped her hair in his face. Before she could retreat, Dad reached out clasping her hand and twirling her back into his arms trapping her.
