You never know when you're gonna meet someone
And your whole wide world in a moment comes undone
You're just walking around and suddenly
Everything that you thought that you knew about love is gone
You find out it's all been wrongAnd all my scars don't seem to matter anymore
'Cause they led me here to you

Start of Something Good - Daughtry

Nine years earlier

I looked at the trees we were driving by. Dad said we were almost there three hours ago, but after the days long road trip, I didn't bother to ask him anymore. What was the point if he was just going to continue to lie?

"Are you okay?" My father had asked gaining my attention as he glanced at my mom. She was silent for a moment removing her gaze from the window before looking at him.

"Yeah, I will be," she replied as I watched her grab my father's hand.

"Are we there yet?" I asked unable to contain myself as I originally thought.

"Almost," Dad replied.

"Almost as in three more hours or almost as an actual almost?" I asked. Dad narrowed his eyes at me through the mirror as Mom laughed. She turned in her seat to look at me.

"Just another half hour, baby boy," she replied. "Don't worry, we'll get there." I frowned before turning to look out the window again.

We had finally arrived and it was sadly already night meaning I couldn't venture the new territory like I had wanted to. I was stuck eating dinner with my parents listening to them have grown up conversation that I couldn't very much care for before I was shipped off to bed.

I sat in bed in my pajamas staring out the window at the moon. I frowned. I could go exploring right now. No one would even notice I was gone.

'Better not sneak out at night, wouldn't want the llorona to get you,' Jason's words came through my head. I quickly shook the thoughts from my head. I'm not scared of this llorona. Jason is just messing with me. I'll even prove it to him. I looked at the eeriness of the woods and how the moonlight dimly lit the path through the trees. I felt my hands beginning to get sweaty and my heart rate beginning to increase as I began to picture what this llorona looked like. Did she have nasty teeth and a snake-like tongue? Did she have claws or black demon eyes? What would she do with the children she took? Eat them? Drown them?

"Are you waiting for me to tuck you in?" Mom's voice said startling me and making me jump towards the wall as she nearly gave me a heart attack. A hand rested on my chest where my heart was racing a million beats a minute.

"Don't you know how to knock?" I complained. She laughed.

"I'm sorry, I didn't realize you started caring about your privacy this early," she smiled, "come on, let's tuck you in."

"I am not a baby anymore, mom," I said indignant, "I don't need you to tuck me in."

"Oh, okay," she said holding her hands up in surrender, "you are a seven year old boy. You should not be tucked in anymore. Good night, baby boy." I watched as she turned around and began walking away. I suddenly heard a weird sound from outside like wailing. My body tensed up as I realized Jason wasn't lying to me.

"Wait! Mom!" I said quickly. She turned to look at me confused. "You can tuck me in this once or you know...till we go home. I mean you already came in here and were really happy with tucking me in so I don't want you to be sad."

"Of course not," she replied smiling as she walked toward me.

"We're doing this for you, not me," I replied.
