It was me
Right from the start, but I never had your heart
'Cause you gave it to someone who didn't care
Now I don't wanna be
I don't wanna be there every time he makes you cry
I don't wanna be there when he doesn't treat you right
I don't wanna be that person in your life
Don't wanna be the other guyThe Other Guy - Stevie Hoang
After the party, Amelia was invited to stay in Luminescent Moon for a time to help the two get closer making it a very awkward situation here at home. Well, more awkward than usual. When Mena wasn't competing for Mikey's attention, she was looking for them cause the two managed to sneak away and not even my usual antics to piss her off would distract her. I wish she'd just give it up as it was obviously hurting her more than she wanted to show. I set the controller down after not getting a single reaction from switching her channel. I stared at her as she absently stared at the T.V. I hated seeing her like this.
"Mena," I said trying to snap her from her thoughts, but she was in too deep. "Mena!" She jumped startled in her seat before she looked over at me confused. "Are you okay?" Her eyes seemed to light up at the sight of me as she crawled over. I honestly did not expect the next words that came out.
"Peter, why don't you fight for Rebecca?" She asked. I looked at her confused for a moment before I was able to gather my thoughts as I frowned at her.
"How many times do I have to tell you I don't like her in that way?" I frowned.
"Your feelings don't just die from one night to the other," she argued.
"There weren't any feelings to begin with," I replied.
"You're so in denial," She sighed frowning.
"I am not," I scowled.
"What's holding you back?" She frowned, "what are you scared of? Huh?" She scooted closer to me and I moved back slightly as she leaned over me as her emerald green eyes pierced into mine. My breath caught at how gorgeous she looked. She was at such a kissable distance... "Peter, do you want me to help you get Rebecca to fall in love with you?"
The words immediately brought me back to our conversation. I put my hand and shoved her away as the scowl grew deeper on my face.
"Ah, Peter!" Mena complained trying to remove my hand as I shoved her head away, "you're messing up my hair!"
"Hey," I growled insulted, "do I really look that pathetic that you think I can't get a girl on my own?" I removed my hand from her face and she glared at me as she patted her hair down. "Why are you trying so hard to set me up with Rebecca anyway?" She frowned as she looked down at her knees beneath her as her hands clenched into fists over them.
"I...I don't want to do this alone," She replied, falling back onto the couch and placing her legs over my lap. "You're the only one that doesn't look at me like I'm doing something wrong or shaming me for chasing after Miguel." With her attention so focused on Mikey, I could see how she could miss that I made myself scarce when it involved her, Mikey, or Amelia in a room. I looked at her frowning as I could see the tears threatening to fall from the corners of her eyes. "And that just proves you feel the same way." She sat up and looked at me. "You wouldn't be this understanding unless you're in my same boat." The way her eyes shined with the unshed tears and the way her face looked like it was going to break any second tore at me. "Please, Peter...let me help you get Rebecca." I looked away unable to handle the way she was looking at me.
"Do what you want," I frowned looking back to the T.V. knowing I was going to regret this. Damn it...
"Yes!" She smiled jumping off the couch. "I got the best idea! I'll be right back!" I watched her jump over the other couch and run up the stairs. I couldn't help but smile seeing her with more energy than what I have seen since Amy arrived. I let out a sigh before grabbing the remote again and I went back to flipping through channels. I sat up as I heard her coming back downstairs with a stack of VHS tapes.
