I have been on a high since Travis proposed to me so we decided that it was finally time for our families to meet so they could celebrate this moment and get to know eachother. Amiyah is the only one to have met the Kelce family so I have been feeling a little uneasy about the rest of my sisters meeting them since they're not known for knowing how to control themselves.
"This whole experience has been pretty surreal." Travis says as he looks around at our families. "They always say that you know when you have found the one but we never truly know until we experience it first hand. I never thought that anybody would captivate me in the way that Jordana has but early on I knew that she was the woman that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with."
"That's my baby." My mom calls out and everyone laughs at her reaction. I have not seen my mom much over the past couple of years since she basically left me when I was eighteen and went on living her solo life.
Being infront of her today is tough because I'm feeling a mixture of conflicting emotions due to our history together. I am elated to be in the presence of the woman that I once adored more than life itself but I am still that hurt teenager who wasn't enough to make her stay.
I never received daily calls or texts from my mother and I was lucky if I even heard from her that month but she consistently posts her life on facebook. My mom would post some of my achievements online but she would never show up to any of them once she left so I continued my life without my parents.
"This is the first time that our families are meeting and we hope that there will be many more moments spent together." Travis kisses my cheek. "Thank you."
Our families clap and I honestly feel as if I'm going to explode with happiness because this is the happiest that I have ever been.
Amiyah wraps her arms around me as I step down to speak with my sisters, "I'm so happy for you."
"Girl..." I start fanning my face. "I'm so happy for me."
"You're going to break the heartbreak curse that we have running in this family." Mehgan tells me as we share a brief hug. "Who would have thought that you would be engaged this soon?"
"I didn't think that I would ever find love until I was well into my thirties or forties because nobody wanted me." I say with a shrug of the shoulders. "I was dating a well known basketballer who didn't want to be seen out in public with me but he could showcase his romance with Kendall Jenner."
"And now you got you somebody way better." Alexis gives me a look. "You have somebody who was showing you off since day one and loves you more than you even love yourself."
