Felix was adding icy shimmer to his eyes as Crystal stared at him from outside the window.
Thanks to Jisung's warm personality a tavern had given them a room in the higher floors, high enough that they could see their dragons resting in the near by trees."I don't know if this is a good idea" Spark, Jisung's dragon, said entering Felix's mind.
"I don't know either, Lix" Jisung doubled down:
"You'd be in enemy territory... if they catch you, you're dead""And that's why I'll do everything in my power to not let them catch me" Felix smiled at his friend, trying to come off as hopeful. In reality he was scared too.
Jisung sighed then started taking clothes out of his leather bags.
"What are you doing?"
"I'm coming with you, you idiot. I need to make sure you stay alive"
Felix tried to stop him but deep inside he felt glad to have someone by his side in the difficult task he had embarked on.
Wearing their best clothes and makeup the two walked to the palace a little later than the rest of the crowd, a scared Jisung following a confident Felix. The guards looked drunk out of their minds, except for one.
"Hello" Felix said with the most vulnerable, sorry voice he could muster:"We've lost our invitation, spent all this time looking for it but we couldn't find it... I bet one of those filthy dragon riders stole it" he let his voice break, as if he was mortified:"The honorable king is waiting for us so please let us pass"
The guard looked him up and down, taking in the low v cut of his suit and the gorgeous blue tint of his eyes in recognition then said:
"Surely such pretty boys would never cause trouble, would they?"
he winked:
"I don't care if you were invited or not, have a nice night, gorgeous, you deserve it"Felix let delight show on his face as the guard gently kissed his hand, letting him pass.
"Welcome home" he whispered to Felix's pointed ear as he walked past, to which he smiled widely.
When they got to where all the others were waiting Jisung whispered to Felix:
"How the HELL did you do that??""I might have done it before when I was younger" he whispered back:
"I was counting on that guard, he always had a soft spot for me"As Jisung stared at his friend, shocked, Felix took in the view of the ballroom. It was amazingly decorated, just like he remembered it. The only new thing was the banner, not green like the old king's anymore but a dark crimson red.
The prince sat above it all and Felix glared at him, unseen:
"Just wait, you're about to go down"
