"This is insane, what we did is insane, we must change all the laws we recently approved!" the puppylike advisor, Seungmin was saying, overtaken by stress.
Felix distractedly nodded in agreement but his attention was elsewhere. The prince was now seated on his bed, stripped of his shirt as a beautiful blonde girl treated his wounds. The elf stared at her hands as they moved on his smooth skin like he was hypnotized, a weird sensation rising in his stomach.
"You're right" these words, exiting the prince's lips were what broke him out of his state.
"Wh-" he stammered looking around him and wondering why noone else was as surprised as him:
"Did I hit his head too hard?"Hyunjin smiled and beside him, Seungmin and Minho did too:
"I'm not a monster my dear elf. If I committed a mistake, I'm going to fix it"
And the prince did. The group worked on new laws all the afternoon. The tea turned into wine, the biscuits into a quick yet nutritious dinner as Minho moved quickly from Hyunjin's room to the kitchens. Felix was welcomed into the group without any complaint and he got along with everyone perfectly, even with the prince.
He liked Seungmin's intelligence: it was clear that the man had studied and he was ready to pour his knowledge out for other people's safety.
He liked Minho too: he was an elf of little words but when he spoke, Felix learned to listen because what he said was of exceptional interest.
About Hyunjin, Felix learned a lot that afternoon.
He learned that he wasn't as bad as he thought, that he could actually be resourceful since he knew so much about how to phrase all the technical nonsense in ways the folk could easily understand. When they finally finished it was late in the evening, candles were burning and Crystal was snoring softly outside the window.
"Felix, could you help me with these?" Seungmin asked him, pointing to a pile of documents.
The two walked in silence for a little then Seungmin seemed to find the courage to speak:
"I don't know what you did to the prince to change his mind but thank you. Thank you so much"
"I basically fough him into catharsis" simply said Felix as Seungmin let out a warm laugh.
"It was probably what he needed, huh? You know the way his eyes get when he's angry, like there's lightning in them?"
Felix smiled widely, of course he did: that expression was the most familiar to him and he didn't even need to force his memory to recall it in its minor details.
"I was truly scared of him, you know? I tried talking to him everyday, warning him that he was going too far but he was simply too angry to listen! I hope I helped at least a bit thought..."
"I'm sure you did your best, Seungmin, the prince seems to value your opinion a lot" Felix conceded.
The advisor smiled, a new shine decorating his face.
As they worked in silence, putting the documents back in order Felix's mind traveled back to his fight with Hyunjin. He remembered the switch in his aura when he had talked about his parents and a thought made its way into his mind.
What if the prince simply... felt alone in his grief? With all these people around him urging him to get over it quickly without realising, telling him that everything he did was wrong... what if he felt like his feelings were being invalidated? What if it all piled up on the anger that was already there and blew it out of proportion?
Such a young broken soul with such power in his hands can never be a good thing."Felix?" Minho's formal voice snapped him out of his thoughts.
"Yes?"
"The prince called you to his room"
