"What's up with the locks Cali?" Maurice asked as Cali let him in her home.
"I changed them." She said closing the door.
"For what?" He looked at her like she was crazy.
"We are not together anymore Maurice. You don't need a key to my home. Thanks." Cali said and walked past him into the living room. Her daughter sat there reading a book.
"Kylie, baby." Kylie's head shot up so fast.
"Daddy!" She put her book down and ran to Maurice jumping into his arms.
Cali sat on the couch because she was feeling light headed. She haven't ate anything yet.
"You want to spend the day with me?"
"Yes, I missed you so much."
"I missed you more. Go put your shoes on." Kylie ran up the steps and did what he said.
"So you don't think you need to discuss taking her with me." Cali said looking at him.
"That's my daughter, I didn't think I needed to."
"You been MIA for two weeks, like where the fuck you been?" Cali stood up looking at him. She was about to get mad real fast.
"I was taking care of business out of town and shit. Don't fucking worry about what I do."
"I'm not worried about you no more Maurice, I only asked because Kylie was asking about you. I don't know what the hell gotten into you but you need to fix that shit real fast."
"Man I don't got time for this shit." He said waving her off.
"And I want her back tonight." Cali told him.
"She staying the night with me."
"No the hell she not, don't play with me." Maurice wasn't keeping her daughter over night especially when they haven't discussed it.
"I'm ready daddy." Kylie said coming into the room.
"Kylie you want to spend the night with me?" Maurice asked his daughter.
"Yes. Can I stay with daddy tonight please mommy." Kylie said looking at Cali with those big eyes.
"Kylie-."
"Please."
Cali looked at the look Kylie was giving her. She knew she missed her father and she wouldn't mind her staying the night but with Maurice lifestyle she wasn't so sure.
"Ok Kylie you can stay." Cali gave in. "Just don't be out with her doing that stuff." She said to Maurice.
"Cali I'm not even going to say nothing to you 'cause you about to piss me off." Cali rolled her eyes.
"Ok give me a hug." Cali kneeled down to her level giving her a hug. "Call me before you go to bed, I love you."
"I will, I love you more mommy."
Maurice took Kylie's hand and they made their way out the door.
-
Cali walked into the hair salon. She had on high waisted jeans, her nude Christian louboutin heels and a white cami tucked in with a pastel pink colored blazer. Her hair was in a high ponytail.
"So how's you and your baby daddy Ken?" Cali heard one of the hair stylist asked their client.
"Girl, he around more now. I guess he done being up the other baby mother ass, maybe we can be together now."
"Hey Char, you got that for me?" Cali asked tuning out their conversation.
"Yea, its in the back." Cali followed Char to the back of the salon. Char handed Cali the envelope with all the payments in there.
"Thanks Char, I'll see y'all next week."
"No problem girl."
Cali left and got inside her silver Mercedes G class SUV. It was 9 at night and she was tired. She had a long day at the office and just wanted to go home and sleep.
"Hey dad." Cali answered her Rose Gold iPhone.
"What's up moo moo. What you doing?"
"About to make my way home. Y'all good?" Cali asked her father. It was unusual for him to call her at this time of night.
"Yea we good. I didn't hear from you today, I was just calling to check on you."
"Aww dad, I'm good." Cali said. She pulled out from the parking spot and made her way home.
"Where Kylie?"
"She with Maurice, she spending the night with him." Cali bit her bottom lip nervous about what her father was going to say.
"It's your life, I won't say shit."
"Dad I broke up with him." She told him. "He was still messing with them bitches."
"Aye watch your mouth girl." She chuckled.
"Sorry daddy."
"But good, he don't know your worth and any man that can't see it don't deserve you."
Cali wiped her face getting a little emotional over the whole situation. "I know daddy, thanks. I'll talk to you and mom tomorrow, I love you."
"I love you too moo moo." Cali hung up the phone.
She pulled up into her drive way and got out of her car. Locking the doors behind her she went into her home and made sure to turn on her alarm system. It was going to be different sleeping in the house without Kylie.
-
"Daddy it's cold." Kylie said as she got out of the tub.
"I know, let's hurry up and get you dressed." Maurice said wrapping the towel around Kylie. Kylie hair was wet and water running down her face.
"I can get dressed myself daddy."
"Well go get dressed and let me know when you done so I can tuck you in."
"Ok." Kylie walked into her room.
Maurice picked up his phone seeing Kennedy calling.
"Yea Ken?" He answered.
"You busy tonight?"
"Yea I got my daughter tonight."
"Well come by tomorrow so you can see your son Maurice."
"Aight I got to go."
"Ok, I love you." Kennedy quickly said and hung up knowing Maurice wasn't going to say it back.
Maurice didn't love her, he loved Cali.
"All done daddy." Kylie said walking into his room. She hopped on his bed and got under the covers yawning.
"You not sleeping in your bed tonight?" Maurice chuckled at his daughter. She never liked sleeping in her own bed.
"No, can we call mommy before I go to sleep."
Maurice took his phone out and face timed her. He laid next to his daughter showing the both of them. Cali answered the phone and she was laying in bed half asleep.
"Hi mommy, I wanted to tell you good night."
"Good night, get some sleep for school tomorrow."
"I love you."
"I love you more."
"You good over there?" Maurice asked her.
"Yea I'm good, I'm picking her up tomorrow so I'll see you when I see you." Cali said then hung up.
Maurice sighed laying back, she couldn't really be done. Could she?
