"Ohmigod!" Jenna squealed when she saw Selene's new shirt as she walked up to her in the hallway. Other students were putting away their books and backpacks while others headed to the cafeteria to get breakfast.

"Where did you get that t-shirt? It's supercute!" Jenna exclaimed, admiring Selene's shirt.

"Oh, this?" Selene asked, holding back a grin. Things were going exactly as planned. Selene had to hold back the yawn she wanted to let out. It had been a struggle getting out of bed this morning. Selene had felt so worn out and tired despite getting the required eight hours of sleep. She had barely managed to get dressed this morning, wanting nothing more than to crawl back in Jane's trundle bed and fall back asleep. Selene was wearing her brand new t-shirt over a turquoise long-sleeved shirt with a lavender skirt, turquoise-and-lavender striped leggings and lace up boots.

It had taken a dozen tries with the outfit changer (and fighting off her own sleepiness) in the privacy of Jane's bathroom to pull together the perfect look, but Selene looked great. No doubt about it. Jane hadn't questioned her about it, likely assuming that Selene had packed an extra change of clothes in her backpack.

"Yes!" Jenna exclaimed. "It is fab-u-lous!" Hailey, Maria, Madison and Ella all left their lockers ajar and gathered around Selene, admiring her outfit.

"Did you get it at the mall?" Maria asked.

"Believe it or not, you can make one yourself." Selene said, doing the sales pitch she had practiced multiple times in the mirror in Jane's bathroom and on her way to school in her head. "As a matter of fact, I'll be giving lessons...."

"Awesome!" Hailey said, practically bouncing in place with excitement. "Just tell us where and when!"

".... with my friend Jane at her birthday party this Saturday." Selene finished. "She taught me how to make it. Right, Jane?"

Jane sidled across the hallway in her own colorful t-shirt and stood next to Selene, her eyes shyly downcast. Jane's t-shirt was even more vibrant than Selene's.

"Right." Jane said, softly. There was an awkward silence as Jenna, Hailey, Maria, Ella and Madison eyes went back and forth as they glanced at each other, having a silent conversation. Finally, Jenna spoke up.

"I totally forgot to RSVP," Jenna said, looking a little sheepish. "Jane, can I still come?" Maria nodded.

"Yeah, it's not too late, is it?" Maria asked. Jane couldn't keep the smile off her face.

"No, not too late at all!" Jane said, happily.

In math class, Selene noticed that Jane sat up straighter and even raised her hand a few times that morning. Their math teacher, Ms. Daniels was delighted.

"Great job today, Jane." Ms. Daniels said as the class filed out the classroom. "Keep up the good work!"

Selene had been fighting a losing battle against her sleepiness since this morning. The gym teacher, Mr. Jackson must have noticed how tired Selene looked, because he let her sit out the lesson on the bleachers. Selene had a front-row seat to the dodgeball game and watched as teams were picked. Lyra, Estella and Juno were also sitting in the bleachers with her, having gotten permission to sit out the game for varying reasons. Juno didn't like to get sweaty and had put on a performance worthy of Shakespeare as the Wishlings would say to get out of the game. Lyra had never been into strenuous sports and Mr. Jackson understood that and let Lyra exercise her way. Estella didn't like dodgeball out of fear of getting hit in her face by the ball. Ella and Rhea were team captains and were taking turns picking players to be on their teams. Ella had picked Jane first to be on her team: which turned out to be a very wise choice once the game got underway.
