Emily's POV:

My heart pounded with excitement as I stepped through the doors of the bakery, my new workplace. Today marked the beginning of my new personal journey, and I couldn't help feel nervous but also felt the anticipation for what this job will bring to my future. The air was filled with pastries, freshly brewed coffee, and the gentle hum of conversation that was currently enveloping the room.

As I made my way up to the front counter for my first shift to start, I noticed a warm smile from a kind-looking elderly woman. Her silver hair was neatly combed, and her eyes sparkled with wisdom. Next to her stood an equally charming gentleman, with a gentle smile etched across his face. They were the owners of this establishment, Mr. and Mrs. Anderson.

"Hello, dear! You must be Emily," Mrs. Anderson greeted, extending her hand in a welcoming gesture. "We've been looking forward to your first day. Welcome to our little shop."

I shook Mrs. Anderson's hand, feeling an instant connection. "Thank you so much for hiring me. I'm really excited to be here."

Mr. Anderson chuckled softly and added, "Well, we're just as excited to have you on board, Emily. We've heard great things about you."

Feeling a wave of reassurance, I couldn't help but smile back at the lovely couple. I knew I had found a special place to begin my career.

Just then, a young woman with a radiant smile approached us. She had a confident stride and a contagious energy about her. "Emily, right? Welcome! I'm Alex, the Andersons' granddaughter, and it's so good to have you here." She told me excitedly.

My eyes lit up as everyone seemed to be super sweet, and it seems she also found a new friend. "Hi, Alex! It's great to meet you. I'm really looking forward to working together."

Alex took my hand and led me through the bustling bakery, showing me my station, I'm going to work at today and showing me the ropes. Alex observed me for a while to see how I was doing and if I needed any improvements.

As I continued to work throughout the day, it was my break time, so I decided to sit down and relax for a bit until my break was over. As I was sitting down, I got a text from James.

James: Hey Em! How's the workday treating u? Just checking in :)

Emily: Hi James! Thanks for reaching out. I'm doing really well, actually. I've settled in nicely and I'm enjoying myself here.

James: I'm glad. I knew you would be great in your new role there. How is everyone treating you? I ur boss nice?

Emily: Everyone has been so welcoming and friendly. The owners Mr. and Mrs. Anderson are both my boss. They are such a cute couple. They've created such a great bakery here. And I made a new friend. It's their granddaughter. Her name is Alex.

James: That's amazing! I got to get back to work now, but we'll talk more later.

Emily: Okay, talk later.

I sat there until it was time for me to get back to work. A I stepped back behind the counter, I noticed a familiar face, Alex. Excitement welled up in me as I realized that this would be the perfect opportunity to get to know her.

"Hey, Alex!" I greeted her with a warm smile.

Alex returned the smile, her eyes holding so much friendliness. "Hey, Em. How's your shift so far?"

"It's not bad." we shared a laugh. "So how long have you been working here?"

Alex leaned against the counter; a playful grin spread across her face. "Believe it or not, I've been here for three years now. Time flies when you're surrounded by good company and delicious coffee." she explains while bringing her coffee mug to her lips.

Impressed, my curiosity has piqued. "Wow, three years?" You must have some interesting stories to tell. What made you stick around for so long?"

Alex's eyes gleamed with fondness as she looked at her grandparents. "It's more than just a bakery to me. The love of my grandparents kept me around, and the atmosphere here is something special. Plus, the customers make it worthwhile. I love watching their faces light up after a long day and they get to come here and try something amazing that usually brightens their day some."

I smiled at Alex, appreciating her passion. "That's amazing. I can already tell how much this place means to you. What's your favorite part about working here?"

Alex pondered for a moment; a thoughtful expression crossed her face. "Hmm, I'd have to say it's the connections we make with people. Whether it's sharing a laugh with a regular customer or getting to know new faces like yours, there's a sense of community here, that's hard to find elsewhere, you know?"

I smiled and nodded with enthusiasm. "I couldn't agree more. It's the people that make a place truly special. Speaking of which, do you have any tips or tricks for navigating the demands of this job?"

"Oh, definitely." Alex began. "First, wear comfy shoes. Trust me, you'll be on your feet a lot. Second, learn the secret recipe for the best latte in town. It's like a hidden superpower that makes customers love you instantly." she laughs.

I laugh with her, feeling the friendship blossoming between us. "Noted. I'll make sure to master that secret recipe. And thank you for the shoe tip. I don't need sore feet to slow me down."

I'm sorry my peeps, this was another short chapter but I'm really freaking tired. But I've been practicing my smut writing, so hopefully soon, I'll have a treat for you guys!! <3 <3 <3
