Amelia's POV

Even though I desperately wanted to do this program, I was afraid to leave my mother.

I feel like I needed to spend her last months with her.

I was washing the dishes when I got a phone call from the one and only, Anne Matthews, Aarons mom.

"Mrs Matthews, what a surprise!"I politely answer.

"Hi dear! Me and Mr. Matthews are back in town, how about you guys come over to dinner, I would love to meet Nathans wife."

"Oh, that's very kind of you. I will check with Nathaniel and Jacob, but count the rest of us in." I say.

"I'll see you tonight then!"

"Goodbye, Mrs. Matthews."

I hung up the phone and giggled at the thought of seeing Aaron, but then shook the feeling off.

Elliot was upstairs, working on some stuff for school.

"Lio, we're going over to the Matthew's place tonight. Just wanted to let you know." I say, as I'm entering the messy room where my brother was.

"I'll text Jacob and Nate." He said.

I'm not sure why, but Elliot has been acting a bit colder around me these past couple days.

I just hope he doesn't know.

Maddie sent me so many texts, so I promised to meet her at a coffee shop nearby.

As I'm grabbing my keys and putting my shoes on, Elliot comes down and asks : "Where are you going?"

"To the coffee shop with Mads?" I say.

He nodded as I walked out.

Maddie was already there, waiting for me. She was sitting at a table next to a group of high school boys.

"Hey, it's so hot outside." she says as she stands up to hug me.

"Maddie, you know why I came here." I say.

"Yes, I do! Okay so, I have an idea." she says and looks at me with her 'look'.

"Oh no-" I try to say but get cut off by Maddies loud voice.

"Shush and hear me out! You know how you told me about Aaron?" she asks.

Oh god.

"I'm actually trying to forget about him, thank you very much." I say as I take a sip off the coffee Maddie ordered for me.

"Girl, he got your name tattooed. You can't forget about him now, you know that right?" she says.

"Okay, yes what abou- Wait! How do you know about the tattoo?" I ask.

How does she know.

"Uhm, check his story."

Fuck.

I immediately grab my phone from my pocket and unlock it to see Aaron's story.

It's a photo of his new tattoo.

Aaron Matthews, I'm going to end you.

The good thing though, is that Nathan and Elliot don't have Instagram, Jacob however, does.

"Maddie, what am I going to do?" I ask, putting my hands on my face.

She laughs at me and says : "Well, I think you should..at least try."

"I can't, you know I can't." I explain.

Don't get me wrong, I liked the kisses. But it's not all about me.

"Why not?" Maddie says.

"Because! If we don't end up together I'll ruin the best friendship my brother has ever had."

"Amelia, life is about taking risks. You can't live life thinking what if, what if. It's just the way it is, you risk one thing so another better thing can happen." She says, holding my hands.

"I can't do it to Elliot." I say.

"But I also can't get over Aaron." I say, again.

Maddie gives me a worried look and says : "The best way to get over a man is to get under a new one." She winks at me and points with her eyes at the red-headed boy walking towards me.

"Hi, I'm Ian. Uhm, I think you're really pretty. Can I have your number?" he asks.

"I'm really sorry, I have a boyfriend."

He lowers his head and walks away.

Maddie widens her eyes at me.

"So you were convincing me to marry Aaron two minutes ago and now you're mad because I didn't give another guy my number?"

She shrugs and we both giggle.
