Ben woke up in the middle of the night and felt for Miranda. This was the fourth time that she was not in bed. He stood to his feet and walked around the house before looking out of the front window.  Her car was gone.

Where the hell was she going? Who was she seeing?

Was this the real problem she had with her husband? She was too busy because she had another man.
His stomach turned at the thought of her sneaking out of this house to see another man.
She wasn't cheating on him at all because he wasn't married to her but he still felt like it was.

It hurt his feelings and his manhood.

Miranda came back home from work and it was 10 minutes before Ben's alarm would go off. She changed into her nightgown quietly and pulled the covers back to get into the bed.

"Where were you?" Ben asked with a loud base of his voice.

Miranda jumped and let go of the covers backing up a little.

"Where are you going? What is it?
You get out of this bed every night and get in it just in time for my alarm...why?"

Ben waited as she swallowed embarrassingly.

"I'm going to work. I'm a surgeon. I need to cut. This life of just sitting here is not me. I can't take it." She explained.

Ben's features softened and he understood. A surgeon was not something you take off at home and put back on at work. It was half of who she was.

"Oh I'm sorry for speaking so aggressively, I was just worried about your safety." He deflected hiding his jealousy.

"Gosh, you sounded like a husband who had caught their wife stepping out on them." Miranda chuckled and Ben laughed lightly scratching the back of his neck.

"I'm going to go take a shower," she announced.

After her shower, Miranda got into bed and turned to look at Ben. "Miranda you should go back to work,"

"How? How can I manage it all?"

"It's teamwork, I will be right here to help you. We can compare our schedules and figure it out. We can alternate days on who drops lay off and who picks her up. I'll still teach you how to cook so, we just need to plan to be home at night at the same time and plan to make the scheduled practices and meetings. On your day off we can plan the Christmas program. This can be done."

Miranda reached out and touched his face before withdrawing her hand quickly. "Thank you," she whispered.

"You don't have to work out this morning since you went to work overnight, I know you got to be so tired in the mornings."

"I take naps after I drop Layla off. I like working out. It makes me feel good."

"Oh well in that case keep on doing what you do. I would never want to stop what makes you feel good."

Miranda mushed his face. Why was the dam man so flirtatious? His smile was a killer and he made her body react.

The next day Miranda picked Tuck up from school. She then went to pick Layla up and introduced the two. She was glad they hit it off. They had been talking nonstop as she drove them to the indoor sportsplex.

Miranda had her red and black soccer shirt that Ben bought for her.

She got started with practice as soon as the other girls showed up.

"Hey, Miranda," Ben greeted.

"Hey Benjamin,"
"Tuck, I want you to meet Ben."

"Hi Ben," Tuck smiled waving.
