Miranda arrived home and she brought her bags into her apartment. Tucker wasn't home and Miranda was partially glad.
She didn't know what to do with herself. So she just cleaned up and did early spring cleaning.
Deep in thought, she decided to drive to the store and pick up random things. She purchased a new bedspread and then went to the grocery store.
Her basket was filled with healthy things for her smoothies. She grabbed a lot of things to make their lunches for two weeks. Then she thought about what would be good for dinner for the week.
Putting everything up at home, Miranda watched TV after changing their bedspread. The original looked clean and they also had a guest room but she didn't know if he shared a bed with Ashleigh or not.
At 4, Miranda began to cook the first meal that Ben taught her.
The door opened up and Miranda turned.
"Hi, Mommy,"
"Hey baby," Miranda chimed.
"Welcome home Miranda,"
"Thank you, it's good to be back." Miranda smiled as Tucker came into the kitchen. He wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed her lips.
Miranda pecked him twice and caressed his face. "It smells good in here,"
"Thanks, I'm making barbecue chicken, mashed potatoes, and a vegetable melody."
"You learned how to cook?"
"Yeah, he taught me a meal every night."
"What else did he teach?"
"Excuse me? You mean that as? " Miranda retorted, turning on her heel quickly. Her eyebrow was raised waiting for his answer. There were so many reasons why she shouldn't have done this experiment but he wasn't about to get on her nerves every single day with throwing this in her face.
"As what I said,"
"Go ahead, Tucker Jones. Why can't we just be good? It's literally my first day back at the house and you want to pick with me."
"You are right I'm sorry."
"Okay then,"
Ben sat in the house trying and failing to watch TV. He changed the sheets on the bed and took a nap before picking Layla up from school.
Ashleigh was back at work and she wouldn't get off until 7. He heated Miranda's chicken pot pie and helped Layla with her homework. Still deep in thought.
Miranda was inwardly lonely. She and Tucker talked but it just wasn't the same. He didn't get anything medical and he didn't find the surgery stories fascinating.
"Dinner was great Mandy,"
"It's Miranda,"
"You always go by Mandy,"
"I know that but that's my nickname as a child. I am a grown woman and I want to be called Miranda,"
"Okay, I got it. Dinner was great Miranda."
"Thank you...come on Tuck let's get you bathed and ready for bed."
Ben laid on his bed and he grabbed his phone debating if he should text Miranda. His conscious was eating at him for letting her leave without saying a word. He was just angry and bitter that this was the end.
God he really needed to forget about this woman. Move on and start fresh with his wife. The point of this was to pull them back together. Not break them apart.
