Hindi ako mapakali sa upuan habang hinahatid ako ni Manong Lito sa school pagsapit ng Biyernes ng umaga. With what happened yesterday at the Nationals, I was not sure what to expect from the student body.
Kumalat na kaya ang nangyari? Chikinini na ba ang palayaw ko? Nakarating na ba kay Aeiana? God. I didn't even want to be involved in their issues.
I walked towards our building a little carefully and consciously. Ilang ulit ko ring inaayos ang suot kong turtle neck jacket. Kada may titingin sa'kin ay hindi ko mapigilang mag-overthink. So far, they're smiling at me more than usual. I wasn't sure what to think of it. Are they happy about it or what?
"Uy bakla! Congrats!" Spencer jumped out of nowhere to hug me.
Huh? Congrats dahil nilalandi ako ni Reider?
"Champions, baby!" She shrieked excitedly, "I watched the video on Facebook. Ang galing niyo, grabe!"
Oh. I forced a smile, "duh. Did you doubt my skills?"
"Of course not. Ako kaya ang number #1 fan mo!"
"Yeah, right," I playfully rolled my eyes. "Who uploaded it pala? Patingin nga." Hindi ko pa kasi nakikita ang videong tinutukoy niya.
"Si Adam yata? Or si Teej? I forgot. Teka," aniya at pumindot-pindot sa phone. "Ito, si Adam nga ang nagpost! Look, angat na angat ang stage presence mo, girl! Inspired yarn?! Umamin ka nga, may jowa ka na ba?" Maloko niya akong tinignan.
"I don't need a boyfriend to dance well, Spens," mabilis kong sagot while watching the video on her phone. I even knitted my eyebrows for added effect.
Hindi ako makafocus sa video dahil napaisip ako bigla. Why was she asking me about a boyfriend? Bumebwelo na ba siya ng tanong? Did she hear about what happened? Gosh! Nakakaparanoid!
"Edi ikaw na!" She rolled her eyes and watched the video with me. "My God! Iba rin talaga ang galawan ni Schreider! Nakakafall kada pitik!"
"Hmm," I nodded a little. Magaling naman talaga kasi ang lalaki.
"Ay, speaking of Schreider, may nabalitaan ako girl!" Sabi niya bigla.
Napalunok ako ng laway. I felt my stomach twisting like a freaking washing machine. Shit. Ito na ba 'yon? Kumalat ba talaga?
I tried to mask my face with ignorance before replying. "Ano na naman 'yan?"
"Nagkabalikan na raw yata sila ni Aeiana!"
Para akong nabuhusan ng malamig na tubig sa narinig. That wasn't the kind of tea I was expecting.
"Talaga?"
"Ang chika sa'kin is may nakakita sa kanila sa village nina Aeiana kagabi. After yata ng laban niyo? Girlie was crying while Schreider was begging on his knees," aniya.
Huh. Okay... Reider wanted her back so badly he kneeled.
Hindi ko alam kung paano magrereact. I could be stupid, but I wasn't dumb. I knew he had been giving me signals, so to hear about him begging to be with her again didn't make any sense.
"Are you sure?" I found myself asking.
"Positive, sis! Tinanggap daw ulit siya ni Aeiana. Sabay pa nga silang pumasok kanina!" Kinikilig niyang turan.
Hindi ko alam kung bakit ang bigat ng pakiramdam ko. That's what you get for thinking so highly of yourself, Jillia. I took a deep breath and shrugged.
