The same fighting and making up with Spade cycle happened for weeks and weeks that I didn't even notice the time flying by so fast.
It's already the first Monday of December and here I was, listening to our Work Immersion professor discuss our final project for the semester.
"Obviously, we're going to have an immersion. This is what this subject has been preparing you for, after all. We'll do this by pair."
Immersion? Nagsimulang magbulungan ang mga kaklase ko.
"Quiet, class. Pairings will be assigned to different families residing in Tondo, Manila. Basically, you have to live with them and help them with the things they do in their daily lives. It's going to be next weekend. Thus, it's only for two days and one night," our prof explained as she handed each of us a Project Information Sheet.
Sari-saring emosyon at reaksyon ang binigay ng klase.
"Ma'am, paano magiging pairing? Choose a friend?" Adam asked with hopeful eyes.
"That is why I handed a Project Information Sheet, Mr. Narvasa," masungit na sagot ni Ma'am.
Bumungisngis si Reider sabay tingin ng pang-asar kay Adam. Napangiti na lang din ako sa itsura nila.
"On the back is a list of the pairings and the addresses of the families assigned to you."
I flipped the sheet to scan the long list.
"We're partners," ani Reider bago ko pa makita ang pangalan ko.
"Huh?" I looked at him. Parang bored na nakatingin lang siya sa papel habang binabasa ito.
Binalik ko ang tingin sa hawak kong papel at tama nga siya. Siya nga ang ka-pair ko.

"Oh, so the pairings were done by class number," kumento ko na hindi niya na tinugunan.
"Swerte naman, Reider!" pabirong suntok sa kanya ni Adam.
"Palit tayo partner! 'Di ko kaclose si Lexa," bulong naman ni Teejay.
"Anong sinasabi niyo dyan? As if namang pwede!" I rolled my eyes at their silly ideas.
Umiling-iling at tumawa na lang din si Reider.
"Now, everything else you need to know is on the front sheet. If you have any questions, raise them now while we still have time," sabi ni Ma'am as she impatiently tapped her right foot.
Nang walang nagtanong ay nagsalita siya ulit. "Okay then, make sure to start planning with your partner during your free time. I'll need updates from each pair next meeting. Also, class secretary, please collect all parental waivers and consent forms by Friday. That's all. Class dismissed."
At sa wakas, dahil lunch na, niligpit ko na ang school stuff ko. I only took out my wallet and phone. Sakto namang nag-vibrate ang pangalawa. Sunod-sunod ang text sa'kin ni Spencer.
