Haven's POV
Despite the bombshell Lenna dropped, we managed to finish our dance lesson. Felix, unsurprisingly, is a skilled dancer. He seems like the type who would have had private dance tutors. I should ask him what his father does later on.
"That was very good for your first lesson. Haven, you were a bit stiff, keep practicing. Felix, you're perfect, keep it up!" Lenna claps him on the back. "Next time, we'll learn fan language. Come excited!" Lenna picks up her stuff, but when I try to return the dress, she shakes her head.
"Keep it, love. Your next lesson is with Chofi. She’ll probably cover history. A portal will open in about 15 minutes to take you to her. Freshen up until then. See you, mwah!" She gives us a flying kiss before dissolving into a pile of flowers.
"You knew, didn't you?" I confront Felix as soon as she leaves. The biscuit he was about to eat hangs in mid-air. "About what?" He feigns ignorance. I sigh and flop down next to him, "About the engagement. You could have told me, you know."
He takes a bite of the biscuit and chews thoughtfully before answering, "I found out last night, Felma told me. But I guess we were the fools for not seeing the obvious." "How so... Wow, this is delicious!" My eyes widen in surprise at the cake's bursting flavor.
He smiles, "Ms. Layla is the best baker. What I meant was our engagement was an unspoken agreement. They told us we were the next rulers. We can only rule together by being married to each other. I'm pretty sure they didn't tell us because it was so obvious."
Felix's POV
I explain my thoughts to Haven, who is already on her second helping of the cake. "Still! What if they had chosen people who didn't find it that obvious? What if they were clueless? The Empress really needs to consider such things!" She pouts.
"I'm pretty sure they wouldn't choose fools as the heirs to the throne. How could they pick someone dumb?" My phone suddenly alerts me, and I glance at it. It's Manager Kim from product management.
"Haven, do you mind excusing me for a moment? I need to take this call." I step away before answering, "Mr. Kim? Is everything alright?" "Sir, I'm sorry to bother you, but could you remind me where I put the files regarding the Seollal designs? I can't remember." Mr. Kim's panicked voice comes through the phone.
I sigh. This is the third time this month Mr. Kim has misplaced these designs. He's a hard worker, but something's been off lately. I'll have a detailed talk with him tomorrow. "Second cabinet, top shelf, far right, a red file."
"Thank you, sir! I'm really sorry!" Mr. Kim hangs up while apologizing. Shaking my head and slightly smiling, I return to Haven. I don't understand why I'm rumored to be a cold-hearted CEO when I'm so easygoing. "So, where were we?" I ask as I sit opposite her.
"We were talking about how dumb we were to not realize what co-rulers meant." She replies. "All things aside... Don't you think I'll make an amazing husband?" I try to make her smile. I succeed because she starts laughing. "Really? I don't even know you that well! Anyway, what else did Flema tell you last night?"
I think deeply, "The only other thing she told me was that the Bonding and our engagement will be in spring, both on the same day." "That's right," Chofi appears in the doorway. "Chofi!" Both Haven and I spring up. "Hello, dears! Are you ready for your lesson?" She smiles brightly at us.
Haven's POV
Chofi's spirit animal, a gigantic owl, gives her the power of flight. She has wings on her back that allow her to fly alongside us as we ride on her pet. "What will we study with you?" Felix asks.
