Majesty's Pov
As Haven dropped, the Dragons surged forward instinctively, their protective instincts flaring.
But I held up a commanding hand. "No," my voice trembled with a mix of fear and authority. "Do not reveal yourselves."
The dragons halted, their forms shimmering as they struggled to remain hidden. My heart raced with worry and terror.
This was not part of history. This was not supposed to happen. The sight of Haven, an anomaly in the fabric of time, lying wounded and unconscious, filled me with dread.
"We must let fate play out," I whispered, my eyes never leaving Haven's form. "We cannot interfere. We must see where this leads."
The weight of my words settled over the dragons like a shroud. They watched with bated breath, their hearts heavy with uncertainty and fear.
The path of history had been altered, and we could only hope that this deviation would lead to a future we could accept.
Aaron's Pov
As I battled Arliss, I felt someone push me away. The exertion due to battle made me crumple to the ground with just a small push.
I looked up to see a girl, gasping for breath, holding her side.
She was bleeding.
The battlefield's chaotic symphony of clashing steel and cries of war faded into an eerie silence, replaced by the sharp gasp of the girl now crumpling to the ground.
Instinctively, my heart lurched, and I scrambled to my feet, my movements driven by a sudden, overwhelming sense of urgency.
I saw Arliss move simultaneously, both of us driven by an inexplicable need to save this mysterious girl who had intervened so dramatically.
Our hands reached out, and together we caught her, preventing her from hitting the ground with a brutal impact.
I felt her slight weight against my arms, the warmth of her body juxtaposed with the cold, lethal arrows protruding from her side and shoulder.
Chaos still raged around us, but in that moment, all I could focus on was the girl's pale face, her features contorted in pain.
I lowered her gently, my heart pounding with a mixture of confusion and desperation. Who was she? Why had she risked her life for us?
I glanced up, my eyes meeting Arliss's equally bewildered and frantic gaze. "She's still breathing," I said, my voice strained. Relief mingled with the urgency in my tone. "We need to get her help."
Arliss nodded, his face a mask of worry and fear. "Who is she?" he whispered, his voice barely audible over the distant sounds of the battle. "Why would she do this?"
I didn't have an answer. My gaze swept over the battlefield, where soldiers from both sides had paused, watching the scene in stunned silence.
I felt a pang of frustration and helplessness. Here was a girl who had thrown herself into the path of danger for us, yet I knew nothing about her.
As Arliss and I carried Haven to the medical tent, our movements were a careful dance of urgency and tenderness.
Each step felt heavy with the weight of responsibility as we navigated through the chaos of the battlefield, our hearts pounding with concern for the unconscious girl cradled between us.
Upon reaching the tent, we were met by Lavender whose presence brought a glimmer of hope amidst the despair. With a sense of purpose, Lavender ushered us aside, her demeanor commanding yet gentle as she took charge of the girl's care.
