✿————✿"Look at this video," you laughed as you lowered your phone for Sakusa to see. He took his attention away from his own phone to what you had to share, chuckling a bit after he finished it. Mind flashing with the thought of another guy who would enjoy it, you sent the video to Suna.
You were lying on the couch in the living room of Sakusa's apartment, taking up most of the space with your legs loosely hanging over the armrest and your body sprawled over the soft cushions before your head stopped directly beside his, leaving him a little space to lean back. Sakusa sat on the carpeted floor, supporting his upper body against the couch.
Honestly, you didn't even remember how the two of you had gotten so comfortable like this so quickly. The original plan had been to go on a walk at the park nearby, but by the time you got there and the two of you sat down for a few seconds before you left, seconds had turned into hours. Three of those hours later, you were still sitting, doing your own things while you shared a space. It was oddly intimate.
"Hey," Sakusa started, "do you want something to eat?"
"I could go for Ihop," you told him, turning onto your side and resting your head on your arms, "but I don't think I'm allowed back there yet."
Sakusa shook his head, letting out a hint of a laugh. "It hasn't already been a year?" you shook your head solemnly.
Last year, you and Yemi had been banned from Ihop after you had both accidentally—key word, accidentally—nearly lit the building on fire. It was such an unreal experience, Yemi had just wanted to smell the new candle she had bought barely an hour earlier and you'd bumped into an addict on the side of the street who offered her their lighter in an effort to help motivate them to quit.
You tried to light her candle but the flame was unnaturally huge, she dropped it, and a bush may have caught on fire right outside the restaurant, latching onto the dry grass, then slowly inching closer and closer to the building while you and Yemi scrambled to call for help. By the time everything was settled, the sign had been burnt to a crisp, but luckily everything else remained untouched. To this day, Yemi still blamed the recovering addict who gave you that bad lighter.
"Okay, how about pizza?"
You shook your head. "Too basic. And kinda expensive nowadays."
"I'm paying." he told you, leaning his head back. You watched him closely, not failing to notice how the sight of him with his head back, hair falling into the couch cushion underneath him, showing off his sharp jawline didn't affect you much anymore. A year ago, you would be weak in the knees, probably struggling to maintain eye contact.
"Well," you started, averting your gaze to the ceiling, "that changes things. I think we should go to the seafood place that has the live crabs swimming around."
He frowned. "A bread basket there is like a hundred dollars—"
"That sucks for whoever's paying, doesn't it? Luckily, it's not me!" you grinned cheekily.
Sakusa rolled his eyes at your playfulness, and it made you smile a bit to feel so normal with him. Even before all this happened, how long had it been since the two of you had just hung out?
