Chapter 7

Mayas pov:

Today was the second home visit. I was going to be asking to adopt Ellie. My heart and mind were racing, I couldn't think straight at all. "Maya?" I heard a little voice call out. "Yes ellie?" I replied. "Could you.. help me?" The little voice echoed through the house. She wanted me. Not Carina, me. I snapped out of my thoughts and ran to her room. "Whats up el?" I asked making her giggle. "Can you help me.. do my hair?" She asked shyly. I smiled and skipped over to her, happy to be able to help her. "What were you thinkin?" I asked grinning from ear to ear. "Uhmmm I don't know?" She said tilting her head, Turing to look at me. "How about.. 2 French braids?" She giggled and nodded.

The whole time I did her hair I smiled, she giggled a couple of times making my heart skip a beat, I loved seeing her happy.

"Ahh you got your mommy to do you hair today huh bambina?" Carina said peaking around her door frame. Ellie blushed at the "mommy" part.

"Yeah." She said nervously Turing to look at me. I gave her a reassuring nod and she giggled. "Welp Leanna is gunna be here soon." I said watching as her smile quickly faded. "Hey. It's gunna be okay little love." I said hugging her from behind. "Stoppp" she giggled, while blushing.

We heard a knock at the door. Leanna. "Come in!" I smiled at the bubbly blonde in front of me.

Eleanor's pov:

As I heard the knock at the door I rushed to my room not wanting to hear if she said yes or no. I ran to my room, flopped on my bed and started looking for stink. He was my favorite stuffed animal and comfort item. He was a gray and black raccoon, stink was very dirty. I hid him from Maya and Carina, not wanting them to think I was a baby. It made me sad at the thought. I felt the tears chipping away at my eye lids so I grabbed him and snuggled my face into him. A wave of stench came over me. My grandparents house.

(Flash back)
"Eleanor." My grandpa called out. "Yeah.." I replied, not wanting to hear the nonsense he was about to tell me. He came to my room and opened the door. "Pack your bags. Take all this with you" he said gesturing to all my clothes and stink laying on my bed. "Wait what?" I said at a loss for words. "Be downstairs and packed in 20." He said with a sharp tone, leaving my room. They didn't love me, but I couldn't leave them. I stared to cry when I heard a voice. "Suck it up!" The boy said in a bratty tone, then walked away. He was right, wherever I was going had to be better then this. Right?

I got in the car and after about a 10 minute drive we pulled up to a fire station. "Get out." Grandma snapped. "O-okay.." I said grabbing my bag. As soon as I got out they pulled away, speeding off. I started sobbing, unable to move. After about 3 minutes of crying I decided to head inside. Upon entering I saw a gorgeous lady with long brunette hair, sorting some medical supplies. Apparently she heard my sniffling because she snapped around with a concerned face.

I snapped out of my trance when I heard a soft knock on the door. "Come in.." I said softly, biting down on my lip nervously. It was Maya. All the anxiety I was feeling slowly drifted away. "Who's this?" She asked pointing to stink laying on my lap. I forgot to hide him. "Oh.. I- uhm. He's.. uh" I couldn't get the words out. I felt my chest getting tight, I hid my face in my hands, wanting to disappear. "Hey. You don't have to tell me if you don't want to." Maya said sweetly, rubbing her hand up and down my arm letting me know she was there. "Uhm.. he's my stuffed animal.." I blurted out. Wasn't it obvious? He's a stuffed animal. "Your so stupid!" I thought getting frustrated. I guess Maya could tell because she replied "it's ok! What's his name?" She said with a goofy smile, making me giggle.

"His name is stink, because raccoons stink. I think?" I said raising an eye brow. Maya laughed at my rhyming. "Well hello there stink." She said squeezing my hand.

"Wellll.." Maya started. I had completely forgot about the visit and the fact I could be adopted. "Welcome home??" Maya said with a confused look on her face. "Really? Yay yay yay!" I squealed jumping up to my feet and hugging Maya. I heard Maya giggle, and all the sudden my feet left the floor. "Heyyyy" I said when my gaze met mayas face. "Heyyyy" she mocked. I rolled my eyes at her playfully, then she carried me out to see Carina.

"Ciao Bella's. And who's this?" Carina asked pointing to stink. "Fuckkk" I whispered, loud enough so Maya could hear me. "Eleanor!" Maya giggled. "Oops.." I said placing my hands over my mouth.  "What? What happened?" Carina said raising her eyebrows. "Nothin." Maya said shrugging her shoulders. "Mhm" Carina glared. "Uhm.. his name is stink, because he stinks" I said grabbing his arm and holding him out as far away from me as I could. "Hmm. I think I can fix that." Carina said taking him from me. I whined quietly not wanting her to hear me, apparently Maya did. "It's ok love, she'll give him back, he's just gunna have a bath." Maya whispered in my ear.
