Ricky's POV
On my way.
I hit sent and began to drive to Jen's house. I was worried about her. Whatever was said in that bathroom that night, sealed their fate. It seemed that this time, Jen and Johnny had really broken up.
I had never seen Jen like that before. Her eyes were voided of any feeling. They seemed empty. Exhausted. As if she had given up on life.
I lost myself in the music I was playing. I had plenty of time to calm her down and just be there for her. I quickly glanced at my phone. There were no texts. Jen hadn't responded.
I frowned but decided to brush it off. Maybe she was taking a hot bath.
A couple of minutes later, I pulled up to her driveway. The lights were off.
I felt my heart stopped beating for a couple of seconds.
Why are the lights off?
I got out of my car and began to walk towards the front door. Something was wrong.
I knocked at the door. Nothing. No response. Silence.
I felt a cold sweat began to form in my forehead. I took out of my cell and dialed her number.
But it went straight to voicemail.
What the hell is going on?
I dialed her number again. And again. And Again.
"Something is wrong," I said out loud.
Maybe she decided to drive to Fernando's house. He was there earlier. And they had kissed. Maybe he had called her and convinced her to visit him instead.
I quickly found his number and called him.
"Hey, bro," I heard Fernando pick up.
"Hey," I quickly became hopeful. "Is Jen there with you?"
"No," he responded. Shit.
Where the hell was, she?
"Why?" he asked. "Weren't you guys at the party?"
"We were," I sighed. "But she drove back home and I was supposed to meet her here. But she's not here."
"Maybe she's taking a hot bath," he responded. "Or she's sleeping."
"No," I closed my eyes. My heart felt as if I had run a marathon. I couldn't shake the feeling. I knew something was wrong. "I'm outside her house. The lights are off. No one is answering. And she's not answering her phone."
"That is strange," he responded. "Let me try calling her. I'll drive down to her place and meet you there."
"Sounds good," I nodded. I hung up the call and pinched the bridge of my nose.
"What do I do?" I asked myself out loud.
I couldn't call her family; I didn't know where she was but I didn't want to worry them if I wasn't sure this was an emergency. I began to pace around the front yard.
For a couple of seconds, I began to panic. I couldn't call my husband; he was taking care of our kids.
After a couple of minutes, I knew there was only one person I could call. Lin-Manuel. I immediately dialed his number and waited.
"Ricky?" I heard his sleepy voice on the other end. I knew it was about 3 am in New York. But maybe he had answers.
"Lin," I responded. "Do you know where Jen is at?"
