The Last Heartbeat

I won't forget the very beautiful time
Loving you gave my heart a reason to fly, but
Losing you took out a light.

After I laid down the pieces of my heart,
Love would bring the light and a shadow of the dark;
Was it all such a temporary dream?
All became lost in the in-between,
Yet there’s not one bit of me letting go,
Sowing such a bitterly watered garden no one knows.

Love is a sacrifice I didn’t understand until you,
Only bestowed unto those willing to leave their hearts open and through,
Vehemently and unconditionally,
Even covering a multitude of sins so truthfully.

Yet I'll mourn the loss that was too deep,
Outwardly growing with time but internally asleep-
Until there’s an answer at the end of the road I may not know.
