Chapter 16: Sabotage

The next morning

Lee

I woke up to Sam licking my face. I chuckled waving him off as I sat up. Clem helped AJ into a shirt before fluffing his hair with a smile.

"Goodmorning. How did you two sleep?" I asked as I stood up from the mattress.

"Morning, Lee. I slept good. The bed was really comfortable." AJ replied.

Clem smiled and nodded in agreement. "It was pretty comfortable, huh? Way more comfortable than the floor." She added.

I picked up my mattress putting it back on the bunk and looked around the room. "Sarah never came in last night?" I questioned with a slight frown.

Clem shook her head with a smirk. "No, I definitely didn't see her when AJ and I woke up. "She shrugged.

" Maybe she slept somewhere else." AJ nodded. The door opened catching our attention as Tenn stepped inside.

"Goodmorning, Marlon wants to talk to you two in his office. Just go through the main doors and his office is at the top of the stairs." He explained before smiling at AJ.

"Hey wanna play with my Firefighter and police toys? " He questioned causing AJ to nod.

" What's a Firefighter and Police?" AJ questioned as Tenn sat down handing AJ his police toy.

"Well... they were the people who use to protect us." Tenn explained.

Clem and I walked out of the room as Tenn and AJ continued to talk and laugh inside. We stepped outside, Sam running past us and out into the grass sniffing around.

Kenny relaxed on one of the couches outside, finally looking well rested. "Hey Clem? Why don't you go talk to Marlon. Just tell Marlon we said we stand by whatever you think. We trust you, Okay?" I smiled as I rubbed Clems shoulder pulling her to my side.

She smiled up at me and nodded. "Alright, I can handle it." She said making her way inside the main doors. I walked over to Kenny and sat down next to him.

"Goodmornin' Lee. You get some good rest?" Kenny asked asked as I sat down.

" Yeah, that was probably the best sleep I've had in a very long time.

"This place seems safe enough for us to stay. We can help these kids protect this place. Make it our home." Kenny nodded.

I nodded in agreement and sighed leaning my head back, closing my eyes and soaking in the sun.

Kenny and I sat in silence for a second untill I heard someone running up to us. "Goodmorning Kenny!" I opened my eyes to see Willy standing with a goofy grin on his face.

" Hey, Good morning buddy. " Kenny smiled as he scooted over so Willy could sit next to him.

Willy ranted to Kenny for a while untill i saw Clem walking out of the main doors with Sarah and Marlon next to her.

I stood up making my way over to her as Sam dashed past me getting to her first. "Hey . I talked to Marlon."  She said as she stepped away from Marlon and Sarah.

" Yeah? What did he say?" I questioned.

"He's having a hard time finding food for the group. He's afraid he won't find something in time to keep everyone fed. " She explained.

I sighed shaking my head. "Violet and Brody are going to try and catch fish, and Louis and Aasim are going to hunt for some rabbits. We should give them a hand."  She added. I glanced back at Kenny as he sat talking to Willy on the couch.
