3 days later

Days passed as Kenny drove us down the empty street. I glanced down at the map and then back towards the road.

" Turn left, here." I spoke. Kenny nodded turning the van down another street. A few walkers roamed around, some attempting to follow the van as we passed by. But there wasn't enough to be concerned about.

" How much further is this place?" Russell questioned from the back seat.

" It'll be a while before we make it. You might want to get comfortable."  Clem replied.

" What's it like there? You said you guys have been there before right?"  He asked.

Clem sighed making eye contact with me as I glanced back at her. " It's safe enough for all of us. The walls are strong and they have pretty good defenses. When we were there, it was being run by... Some not so good people. But we handled that so things should be okay." She responded.

" If it was such a good place, why did you leave?" Becca asked causing Clem to look back at her.

" I had other things I needed to do. That's all you need to know. Now sit back and just enjoy the break while you can."  She replied calmly, yet you could still hear the anger behind her words.

Sam's ears perked at the slight anger in her voice and Louis held one of her hands in his, gently rubbing his thumb over it trying to calm her.

" It was just a question." Becca shrugged as she rolled her eyes.

" Try keeping your questions to yourself unless it's important." Sarah rolled her eyes as she gave Clem a reassuring nod.

Becca didn't respond this time, as silence filled the car. I sighed looking back down, examining the map. "Shit!" Kenny exclaimed swerving the van to a stop.

"Jesus, Kenny. What was that for?" Clem asked from the back.

I looked forward noticing what caused Kenny to stop. A pile up of cars was blocking off the street making it impossible to pass. " It's a road block. We'll have to find another way around." Kenny sighed.

I looked at the map checking for another route as everyone began talking amongst each other. "It looks like the only way around is to go back, there's no other paths on this street." I explained.

" We should probably see if these cars have any gas left in them first. The vans gonna run out soon." Kenny suggested, unclasping his seatbelt.

" Good idea. Alright guys, we're gonna check these cars for gas. Sit tight, we'll be back." I spoke turning to look back at the others.

Clem turned around asking AJ for the Siphon Pumps that was inside his bag. AJ obliged and went into his bag, pulling it out. He handed the Pumps to Clem and she passed them to me.

" I got the cans. I'll come too, for backup." Carley smiled as she climbed from the back. I nodded and the three of us got out of the van.

I turned and looked at Clem from the opened door. "Clem, hop in the driver's seat. Get ready to start it up if things go bad." I said. She nodded and did as I said, climbing to the driver's seat.

I closed the door and Kenny, Carley, and I made our way over to the pile up. As Kenny and I checked the cars for gas, Carley kept a lookout for any unwanted guests.

Most of the cars were empty but we managed to siphon some gas from a few of them. It wasn't much, but it was better than finding nothing at all. "Looks like that's all we're gonna get from here. Let's get outta here before-"
