Everyone was around the morning fire, as the sun came back over the horizon. Daryl was feeling a little rough, but he still wanted to go out to look for Chris. However, nobody would let him. Even Merle had given him a stern talking too. Carl was on his feet, and finally out of that damn bed which was starting to feel like a hospital room, which he hated. Sophia had completley recovered, as well as T-dog. So, everyone was around the fire, eating eggs for breakfast.
Apart from Brooks.
She'd been in the RV's bathroom. It was peaceful, silent. Apart from the singing of birds, and crackling of the warm fire. The odd compliment to Carol the chef. She makes the best scrambled eggs. Everybody was enjoying the peace, apart from Glenn who was stressing over a secret he'd found out the night before, but that's a problem for the next chapter. Peace didn't come regularly or easily to the group, so they took advantage of it while they could.
Until, Brooks came running out of the RV, shouting. "I've been bit! I've been bit!"
Everyone was in shock, staring at her wide eyed as she was breathing deeply, in front of the entire group. "What?" Merle asked, around a mouthful of eggs.
"I'm bleedin'! I'm bleedin'! I'm gonna die! I'm dyin'!" She shouted, panicked.
"Someone do something!" Sophia shouted at Daryl and Merle.
Daryl shoved his eggs to the floor and went over to Brooks, he started looking over her, but he couldn't see anything. "You ain't bit! You damn drama Queen." He huffed, taking a few steps back. "You even see a walker?"
"No, but one must've got me! I went to the bathroom and there's blood!" Brooks shouted, freaking out.
Merle snorted a laugh, almost choking on his eggs as he shrunk down in his chair. Daryl went deathly pale, looking down to the ground and scratching the back of his neck. "Oh." Was all Glenn could say. Everyone just sort of blinked at her, not knowing what to do.
"I know y'all hate me but surely not carin' that I'm dyin' is a bit dramatic!"
Cam wiped his mouth with the back of his hand. "You're not dying, kiddo."
"Well, clearly, I am!"
Carol shook her head. "It's not death, sweetheart. It's your...."
"Welcome to womanhood." Lori grinned, happily eating her eggs.
"It's your period." Carol stated.
Brooks' eyes widened as she took a step back. "Uhm... Oh."
"Thought a genius like you would've figured that one out?" T-dog asked.
Brooks shrugged. "I never read no damn book on the female reproductive system."
"I did once." Glenn admitted. "It didn't help that much."
"Isn't she a little... Young?" Daryl asked, looking to Carol for help.
Carol shook her head. "Sophia got hers a week before her eleventh birthday."
"Mom!" Sophia let out, shrinking in her chair and hiding her face in her hands, completley embarrassed.
Rick couldn't help but chuckle. "Daryl, Merle, one of you gonna go help her?"
"Not it." Daryl and Merle said in sync, before glaring at each other.
Carol laughed. "I'll do it. Come on, sweetheart." Carol took Brooks' hand, and lead her back to the RV.
Carl leaned closer to Sophia and whispered. "What's a period?"
Sophia dropped her hands, and silently went back to eating. She couldn't make eye contact with anybody. Merle noticed, and tried to help. "Ya know, kid, it ain't nothin' to be embarass-"
