I've got to get out of here. I ran back to my room, I cracked open the door and started to unpack the food from the cupboards.
"Meow?"
Sock comes up to me taking my frantic look very seriously.
"Grab some of your toys Sock. Were leaving I'm so done. I need weapons. Dammit!"
I slammed the bag on the floor , running my fingers through my hair. I needed more weapons, but where ? I walked out, stuff not packed yet but ready. I needed to find the weapons manager. Ean or Ian or whatever was his name. I should have listened to Zachary when he was explaining. Zachary. My chest already ached at the thought of him. Too much to bear, all of the girlfriend crap is almost killing me by now. He should've have told me he had a girlfriend before I got to close to him, he's an idiot. No. I'm the idiot.
"Kaitlyn?"
i turned around to see Becca holding a syringe with the blue liquid inside.
"Becca. I was wondering if you could help me find weapons. So I won't be in so much trouble when I get out of here."
"Your leaving?!"
"Yeah, I wish I could explain but I don't belong here. When I do leave, tell Zach I'm gone."
"Did you just call Zachary ,Zach?"
"Oh y-yeah, god why does everybody keep asking me that."
"Cause he never even, oh my god, he doesn't even let his girlfriend call him that."
Oh lord. Why can't people just support my decision of leaving, why do they give me reasons to stay in this place. Why?
"Oh, I didn't know that."
"If you leave, I'm only saying if here. We will all be crushed. We thought you'd be a great help here in the Lab or in the Economy Training Center. We've looked back at your files. You never scored below a 98% , have you?"
"No I haven't Becca."
Great, now they would need me to stay.
"Please just stay Kaitlyn. I know you really want to get out of here but there are many things you will never understand about The Above. Your imagination runs wild when thinking about the place. You'll love what you see but, it's dangerous up there. We don't even know where we are located."
"May I see the map at least?"
"Of course."
She handed me a rolled up paper tied with a golden rubber band.
"We never learned about geography, it was always illegal."
"I know that. My mom taught me a little bit of it when I was 11. She would always sneak in books and papers just to see how good I could learn about continents and country's."
"What?"
"Forget it, where on this map are we located."
"Somewhere near the red rings, we drew them from our radars net screen."
"Brilliant."
North America. I grabbed a magnifying glass and put it over the map making the small letters bigger.
"We're near somewhere called New York. It was a big city with hundreds of buildings."
"Buildings? Building above the ground?"
"I don't know, I've never been anywhere but the Underground."
"And here. So what do you say? Can you please stay."
She folded her hands and put them on her lap.
"I'll stay."
She gave me a hug, I was too shocked to hug her back in time.
"Thank god I thought I was going to have to beg more."
Sirens filled the room, the lights shut off and there was people rushing into the lap.
"They're attacking everyone please go to the laboratory IMMEDIATELY!"
