My body ached as I rolled out of the steel bed headquarters.
"I wonder why they don't just accommodate us with cots." I sighed.
Lifting myself off the bed, I slipped on some socks and put on my baggy sweater. I washed my face, brushed my teeth, before heading out the door. I walked down the halls in search for directions out or Becca. I hardly remember anything about the room arrangements in headquarters, unlike Zachary. Zachary.... I stopped walking as the tears started to brim on the edges of my eyes. I leaned against the wall as I started to crumple to the floor.
"Kaitlyn Greenburg. My name is Service Bot 3000. I will be in your acquaintance for your stay here at The above Medical center."
I wiped the tears away from my face with my sweater sleeve and let my last sniffle out before beginning to stand up.
"Help me find Becca Almod. She works at the Economic Lab-"
"We can not give out any personal information about workers to their captives."
"Captives? No you've got it all wrong. I work here."
"There is no record of you working here in our underground dormitory."
I was no longer sad, I stood up towering myself over the little service bot.
"What did you say?"
"There is no record of you working here in our underground dormitory. Would you like me to go over your files Kaitlyn Eve Greenburg?"
"How do you know my name?"
"I've said to much. I will lead you back to your dorm."
The service bot grabbed my arm. I snatched it away.
"I need to find-"
"Find what now Miss Greenburg?"
I shiver went down my spine. His words sent chills through my blood as I turned around. A smirk was plastered against his face as he gave the service bot a chip to implant in her memory system.
"Nothing at all Captain Thorne."
"You thought you could run didn't you. you thought you could escape from the dormitories as we were being ambushed by your little friends. Oh but don't worry, they are all taken care of now. No need to fret." He walked towards me, placing a hand on my cheek. It bothered me that he could make my stomach churn at every touch. My cheeks burned fiercely as I avoided eye contact with him.
"What did you do to them?" I said quietly.
My teeth were clenched as I swallowed down all of the tears.
"Nothing serious just put them away for safe keeping. I forget whom, let's see. oh! I collected a shy one very tall like an Amazon."
Could that be Maddie?
"I also collected a burly man, well looked weak when I found him. Blond haired boy, probably older than both of us."
It could only be Jake.
God this is all my fault. My heart sank as I realized I put so many people in danger.
"Oh and would I mention a boy with dark brown hair constantly asking to see you. What was his name now... Zachary?"
"Don't hurt any them or I'll-"
"You'll what? Oh you won't be able to do anything, were taking you with them and you'll all be gone by tomorrow. Don't worry, in the meantime
He patted the service bot.
"Service bot 3000 take her back to her dorm to pick up her stuff before she moves to the pit. Make sure she's escorted by Ralph and don't share information this time."
He gave me an evil smile before walking away.
"Kaitlyn Greenburg, we must head back to the dormitory."
"Let's go."
I walked down the hallway. If I'm ever going to live im going to have to bust out. Tonight.
