My body felt numb as I saw who called my name. It was Captain Thorne who stood behind me, arms by his side and his hair swept perfectly across his forehead. His sea green eyes glowed in the dim light as his perfectly toned skin shimmered under the blue lights. As much as I hate to admit it, he was beyond attractive. He was inhumanly... perfect. I cleared my throat.
"Captain Thorne."
I say coolly. He raises his eyebrow and I stare at him showing no reaction. Despite how much I despise his presence.
"Where do you think you are going?" He asks.
I clench my fists at my sides. But release when reality hits me.Where am I going?
"Back to the dorms. I don't have any business outside the dorms anyways." I reply.
"The economy ιѕ your business Ms Greenburg. The only reason why you are still alive."
A smirk is is spread across his face, against his perfect shape for a jawline. It takes all my strength not to walk away, or strangle him.
"I'm alive because I choose to be Captain. Not because of our so called economy. Now If you excuse me"
I continue to walk away. He grabs my arm and holds me in place. My body freezes, his hands were cold to the touch. My heart beats faster as he chuckles lightly.
"The economy is where we treat our people fairly and shelter them from the great dangers of the outside world. That is good enough for you I would assume." He says, clearly pleased with his answer, and the reaction he gets out of me every time he comes in contact with me.
"If you think keeping people hostage and treating them like animals while putting false information in their minds is a fair economy, I question your judgement Thorne."
I maintain my focus on him without showing any hesitation. I'm the only person to be able to talk to him like this. We used to be so close as children, and now here he is. A dictator of a dying colony at only 18. He doesn't have much of a reaction. I hide my smile when he loosens his grip on my arm.He doesn't say anything else after that.
"Your lucky I do enjoy your company, despite you being so cruel and harsh. Until next time."
He slides his hand underneath mine, bringing it to his lips. Too shocked to pull away, I feel my cheeks burn as he starts to walk down the hallway. He stops midway and turns around.
"Your reaction is priceless. I do hope we could do this more often, Kaitlyn."
He says swiftly.
I silently walk towards the elevators and press the button. I feel his eyes watching me as I wait. After a couple of seconds the door opens
Captain Thorne is inspecting my every move and I'm on the verge of slapping him for being so infuriating and charming at the same time. I press my floor button, L34.
"Ms Greenburg." I really wish he would stop calling me that.
"Yes Captain." I huff.
"Sometimes I treat people in my economy like animals so they won't forget who their master really is."
A cold smirk is plastered against his face and he grips the handle of his hand gun. I wish I brought my gun, god why ant I just keep my big mouth shut. The elevator doors close as I'm lead to my dorm.
