"Actually Roo....we want to set you up for marriage with Mr.Oberoi's son"
"WHAT?! Dad!"
"Let your dad complete Roo." How can I???? I just don't want to marry a complete stranger.
"I know Roo you don't want to marry a stranger. What I am saying is, we will go tomorrow and meet the boy. Both the families decided to give you both a month's time. After that you both can decide whether to continue with the marriage or not."
"We are getting old dear, and we just want to see you happy and settled in your life."
I understand there concern for me but still how can I marry someone Idon't even know. A month's time isn't enough to know someone.
After listening to them I just nodded my head and focused in my food.
Food is love.
None of us spoke anything. We just silently ate our lunch and moved to our respective rooms to rest. A little while later my mom entered my room.
"Listen Roo..we thought about this, we think that you should marry him not just because he's someone your dad knows but I know he's a great guy. I mean if you don't feel anything for him after marriage you can always come to us."
She kept her hand on my hand as if consoling me that everything is going great.
"I will respect you decision sweetheart but please remember that we both love you and the decision we made is not that bad."
She came closer to me and whispered in my ear "He's good looking too." We both had a laugh.
Mom just knows how to make mydecisions change. Some might think it is manipulating but I think she just tells me different sides of the situation.
Later that day, I called my Kavya to tell about all the drama happening in my life. Just a BFF thing. I told her every single detail of all the incidents happened after I left work. And guess what? she started laughing.
"How can you laugh in this situation?" I was really furious.
"How can I not? I mean first ever drama in your life that too so serious that it can lead to marriage."
"But what do I do now? I am so confused."
"I think aunty is correct. They want you to have a good life. If you had a boyfriend, I am sure they would have married you off to him. And besides she says that if you don't want to be together after the marriage you can always come back."
"Right? I don't know but my mind is just full of thoughts. You sound very mature by the way." Generally it's me who is mature.
"Yeah because in my situations I somehow act dumb." She said mischievously. "But if he's handsome, do give him a try. Okay?" We both chuckled. "Yeah. I'll tell you the details later."
My eyes fealt heavy. Indeed it was a tiring day, but tomorrow it will be more tiring as tomorrow we are going to Mr.Obreio's house.
