Arranged with love

The meeting

It's the day we go to Jay uncle's (Mr. Oberoi's) home. Jay uncle and
Amrita aunty (Mrs.Obreio) used to come at our house when I was little. But I have never seen there sons.

Ruth's Look

"My baby looks so beautiful." My mom said looking at ne through the mirror.

"Thankyou mumma." But when I looked at her, I could tell that she cried a little.
I just hugged her and kissed her cheek.

We were here. Standing infront of Mr.Obreio's house.
The stairs at the entrance were a little slippery. So I had to hold onto dad, as I was wearing heels.

We entered the house and both the families had a hug. I was ignored.

Later when we sat aunty told us that her son is on his way from office. Till then my parents and the Oberoi family were talking, and I was nervous.

'When will this end.' Was the only thing going on in my head.

Kabir's Look

I was actually lookin down the whole time, until I heard uncle saying...
"Kabir! You're here? Come inside."

He was coming towards us, and when he reached us he touched my dad's feet (as a token of respect). And then he touched my mom's feet.

I was sitting in between my parents, so when he was touching my parent's feet we had an eye contact.

The eye contact was so intense that it made my heart skip a beat.

Focus Ruth! You're not supposed to fall in love so quick.
Then he went towards his parents and sat their, and then his brother came in.

"So Kabir, how's work?" Dad started the conversation.
So he's Kabir Oberoi.
"It's great uncle." He said.
His voice is just like how they say in the books.

"He is a workaholic Emmanuel, don't trust him." Jay uncle completed and all started laughing.

"By the way Ruth, where'd you get that saree."
"It's my design Aunty."
"It's beautiful! Please design one for me too. Mary might have gotten hundreds of such beautiful saree, right?"

Then all of them were talking about some random stuff.
"Why don't we let the kids talk among themselves." Dad had a great smile while saying that.

Why would you do that?? Is my family my enemy? My introverted ass won't be able to talk and they want me to talk with him that too alone!!!

I had no other option but to stand and follow Kabir. He took me to the veranda.

"Please sit." He said with a straight face.
"Yeah." It was super awkward.

"Umm....Can I ask you a question." Kabir asked.

I could tell that he was a little nervous too. I mean, talking to someone and thinking of marriage in one meeting is absurd.

I just nodded.
"Why did you agree for this?"
"My parents said that unexpected decision in life can make life more better than a planned life." I said all this with few eye contacts with him and looking down a few times.

We just had tea and were silent. No one talked for that whole time.
It's time for us to leave.

Dad went out first with Jay uncle and mom was talking to Amrita aunty while going down the stairs.

I was thinking how to get down the stairs, when Kabir stood beside me.

"Here." He said while offering his hand to me.
"Hmm?"
"The stairs are slippery and you are wearing heels, so I thought you might need some help."

I smiled looking at him and clutched onto his arm. I was going down the stairs while looking down. So he kept his other hand on my hand which was on his bicep.
