"Damn, not again !" Chelsea walks in the house from school and begin flicking the light switch on and off in living room. "What's wrong with the lights?" Charles asks Chelsea. "Hopefully the light bulb is just gone out and not what I think it is." Chelsea answers. They both continue to walk down the hallway while hitting every light switch they pass and none of them come on. As they walk pass their mom Sheila room they peep in she isn't there , which she is rarely home when they got out of school anyway. "Are the lights out again Chels?" , "I think so Lil Charles." Chelsea answers. "So we'll be putting our school clothes under the mattress again so they won't be so wrinkled huh?" Charles says to Chelsea , "I guess so." They both went put their book packs down in their rooms and walked out the door. They both knew exactly where to find their mom Sheila, either sitting on her friend Wanda porch getting high and drinking or sitting on the hood of her friend Tanya car talking about what big party is coming up. "There she go !" says Lit Charles , pointing and running towards Tanya house. Chelsea knew once she had seen her momma sitting with Tanya that Sheila would be hitting the club the upcoming weekend . "Hey Ms. Tanya." Chelsea says , "Hey guhhhh , I remember when I was your age I was fine as wine and nobody couldn't tell me nothing." Chelsea gives her a fake laugh because she says the something every-time she see her. "Ma, the lights are off." says Charles "I know shit, call yall daddy good for nothing ass , or we gone be in the dark until I hustle up some money to get them back on." Sheila says. Charles glances up at Chelsea , she just looked at him. She knew her mom was high and drunk so she didn't say much. Chelsea and Charles dad had left them when Charles was a newborn and Chelsea was 3. Sheila hated Big Charles, she could not stand the ground he walked on. That's why her and Chelsea never got along because she was his twin. "Ma, I need the lights I have a project due next Tuesday." Chelsea says to her mom. "Didn't I say call yo damn daddy , ride him like yaw do me shit. Yaw act like he don't fucking exist, he have to pull his weight just like I do , but yaw never say anything to him. Always in my damn face talking about all your damn needs and wants." Sheila still ranting on and on Chelsea had already tuned her because every time something happened or came up her mom always brought Big Charles name up and always ended up being a big argument. Chelsea rolls her eyes and proceeds to walk off "Come on Lil Charles." "I don't give a fuck about yo nasty attitude , I didn't have yaw by my damn self so get the fuck outta my face." Sheila yells at Chelsea. They walked back home. "Do you have any homework Charles?" Chelsea asks. "I just have a worksheet I have to do." Charles answers. "Okay , I'm about to help you." By then her cellphone begin too buzz she looked at it, it was Trey. He had texted her "Ima be ova dea at about 4." Trey was 3 years older than Chelsea, he was a really nice young man. He sold drugs thou but he never minded helping Chelsea or her mom out at all and Lil Charles was crazy about him . "Is that Trey?" Charles asks , "Yes it is." "Tell him come over so I can play my game on his phone." Charles says "Just do you're homework Lit Charles okay." Chelsea says while glaring at him with her I mean business look. Chelsea didn't really want him over because the lights were off and the previous month he had just helped get the gas back on. She responded "Me & Lit Charles was gone come over there, lights are off 😩." "Yuu know I gotcha babe 😘." "No my momma got it Trey , u just helped us out." "N Ima help ya again end of story ." Trey responds , "Okay baby. Thank you so much 😘❤️" "Yeen gotta thank me , u my lady." "I know see ya at 4." Chelsea replies back. No matter how much Trey says he didn't mind it was still embarrassing to Chelsea that she had to rely on her 18 year old boyfriend for their bills, but she didn't want them to be in the dark and she knew it wasn't no telling when her mom was gonna have the money. Chelsea begin helping Charles with his homework. 30 minutes had passed and there was a knock on the door. Chelsea glances at the phone it was 3:15. "I thought he said 4 o'clock." She says with a lil smirk on her face. Chelsea opens the door no one was there but she saw a letter taped to it . She begins to open it up and it was a 2 week eviction notice. Chelsea just drops her head while holding the letter in her hand. "Mane damn, we cant win for losing. Momma really finna lose it now."
