Trey and his uncle had been all through the hood asking questions about the shooting, no one seemed to know anything. That's just the street code. Chelsea and Trey weren't talking much because she was angry that he was missing school , and his senior year at that riding with his uncle all day and sometimes all night looking for who shot SJ. A few days had passed and not many words had been share between Sheila and Chelsea.
"Chels you and ma can't get along and bump heads so much cuz yaw just alike you know that. Charles tells Chelsea. "Na, ian nun like her Lil Charles." Chelsea says back. "Yaw attitudes and smart ass mouths are just alike." Chelsea shrugs and walks off. Sheila stayed in her room most of the time watching TV, on the phone or smoking. Chelsea could have sworn a few times she heard her crying, but she didn't care because she felt as if it was all fake. Chelsea didn't know but Sheila really had been actually crying when she was forced to face reality, she knew in 4 days her, Chelsea and Lil Charles would be on the streets. She still didn't have a plan. Often times Lil Charles was left in the dark about the financial situations well at least until it gets turned off or a notice is put on the door. Chelsea sat in her room typing her project. But she couldn't focus. She knew her mom would be mad but the only choice they had was to call their dad.
"Run Ya Mouth ." Big Charles answer his phone. "Hey daddy, what you doing." "Oh nothing sitting here watching the game, how's daddy baby girl?" "Not so good daddy." "Talk to daddy, wassup?" "Well I know ma gone be mad but your our last option." Chelsea talks a deep breath and begin to cry. "We are about to be evicted, ma is 3 months behind on rent they put an eviction notice on the door saying we had two weeks to get out, ma don't have a job so that means she has no money coming in." Chelsea said in the mist of tears flowing. "What 3 months why would she let it get that far behind, what happened to her job and how long has she been out of a job." "None of that matters daddy, are you gonna help us or no?" Chelsea asks. "Your momma gotta do better ." Big Charles says back. "I know I know I know, you gonna help or we gotta come live witchu ." Chelsea said. "Yeah ima send it Chels. Sheila was right Big Charles didn't always do right by them it had to be truly an emergency to get something out of him. "When you gone send the money daddy?" Chelsea cuts him off cause she didn't want to hear all the sob stories about 'what really happened' she don't care anymore to know. She heard enough of it from Sheila so she wasn't willing to listen at Big Charles .They both had their own version of what happened , Lil Charles and Chelsea was just the product of the confusion. "Just see exactly how much it's all together and I'll wire it to you through money gram at Walmart or send a money order." Big Charles said. "Okay daddy, I'll text you with the exact amount." I know he didn't mind sending it, he don't want us to have to come live with him , Chelsea thought to herself . "Don't thank me, I'll do anything for you and my baby boy, where he at anyway how's is he." "He in his room playing that darn game, as usual and he's doing good." "Well that's good well love yaw, gone take care of that ." "Okay love you to daddy."
Chelsea hung up and walked towards her momma room. Sheila was in the room on the phone with who sounded like Wanda gossiping about the lady from round the street, from the lil bit Chelsea heard it was something about her boyfriend had beat her or something. Chelsea didn't care they had problems of their own to worry about. "Ma what's the full amount we owe for the rent?" "3 months behind 600 a month now you calculate!" Sheila answers rudely, she was irritated because Chelsea had interrupted her from getting the tea about ole girl from round the road. "And why shit you got some money?" Sheila asks. "Nope not right now but I will in a few." "How you gone get it then?" "Don't worry about it, you ain't been worrying about it, all you want is the tea and going out so." Chelsea says and turns around heading towards her bedroom. Chelsea didn't like disrespecting Sheila but she was angry and tired of how irresponsible Sheila had become. Chelsea had begun texting her dad the full amount. She was kind of nervous to send it cause Big Charles was tight with his money, but she didn't care cause something was better then nothing . Suddenly she feels a punch to the back of her her head.
"Lit bitch, I been letting you slide with yo comments for the past week or so, but today is the fucking day." Sheila had hit her. The impact from the off guard punch made Chelsea fall to the floor. Chelsea never hit Sheila back she'll just grab her arms or push her off of her or something. "Yaw can't go stay with yo sorry ass daddy can you, if I didn't have yaw I'd be some where enjoying my life, Ima send yo ass there thou cause yaw think he a fucking king and watch how he treat you." Sheila was still yelling. Chelsea had begin reaching for her momma arms but they were swinging towards her uncontrollably. Next thing Chelsea knows Sheila was on the floor next to her. "What you hitting her for she's more woman than you!" Both stunned Chelsea and Sheila looks up it was Lil Charles, he had pushed Sheila so she would stop hitting Chelsea. Chelsea thought Sheila just had tripped over her legs. "If it wasn't for Chelsea, well Chelsea boyfriend we wouldn't have lights or gas right now, you should be thanking her instead of putting your hands on her." Lil Charles said to his mom. Charles never got in their fights or arguments, he'll just go in Chelsea's room after it's over hug her and say "it's cool you still cute, ma gone get all that back Chels believe that." This time Lil Charles had enough. Sheila was crying her eyes out cause she knew it was true. Chelsea still hadn't said a word. Lil Charles went in his room grabbed a bag which looked like seemed to be full of clothes headed out the door and slamming it behind him.
