Ch/23

Hinata slowed her running down when she saw a bench in her view. She huffed after coming to a full stop and decided to catch her breath. "I should've bought some water." She mumbled to herself and began stretching, starting with her upper body. She worked from top to bottom. Sweet hums escaped her mouth as her body was freed from the aches to some small degree.

One of her legs was extended on the bench and both her hands were resting on her hips. Then she switched legs and gave it a good minute of stretching. After that was over she took a couple of slow deep breaths and then she removed her airpods from the case after they had a little juice from charging.

She pulled out her phone and searched for a new playlist to listen to before starting up her run again. The dark violet was really proud of herself for keeping up with her runs and for just being active in general. She lost a fair amount of weight last year just by walking everywhere & bringing up her water intake.

Her body looked the best it's ever looked and she was happy with her current weight so she did things to maintain it. Things like going to the gym, a walk around the neighborhood, a swim at a pool, a run at the trail, or even a fun dance workout at home kept her mind clear.

When she finally found a good playlist she smiled to herself, took one more deep breath, and just when she was about to press play she felt something hard crashing into her from behind and it damn near knocked her down.

"Hey!" She shouted. "Watch where the fuck you're going you ass-" Her insult halted in her throat when she spun around and saw him. Her eyes widened, the muscles in her body tensed, and she stopped breathing for a sec.

The heartbeat in her chest quickened and the thoughts in her mind lessened. She hasn't seen Naruto since she's been back and there was no reason for them to talk, so you can bet she was hella surprised when he bumped into her, literally. He smiled cheekily and brought a hand up as he greeted her. "Hi."

When she didn't say anything he figured she was too excited, so he decided to break the ice. "Yeah, I know. I'm happy to see you too." Her look slowly shifted from stunned to confused. "How have you been?" Her brows knitted together and her eyes slightly lowered. "That's interesting, but uh... yeah I've been good too." Okay, not only was she shocked but she was also dumbstruck. "I was thinking we could catch a bite after this, that okay with you?" It was scary how he spoke so casually.

Hinata finally pressed play, turned around, and began running again. She didn't have time to deal with his bull & she wasn't gonna give him the time of day either. Hopefully her not responding to him was a response of itself.

Naruto just ran after her while enjoying the view from behind but they needed to hash some things out. "Sugar Pop." He called out to her but she couldn't hear him since the music she listened to was loud. It didn't matter too much though because they both could enjoy a run together.

Hinata looked over her shoulder to see him still following her & she irritatingly groaned as she sped up but he just went along with her. The tall blond enjoyed this time they had together after they'd been away from each other for so long. This was just what they needed to get back into the groove of things.

She did 3 miles around the trail and decided to skip out on the bigger one that led into the woods. Her hands were on her knees, sweat dripped from her forehead down to her chest and she breathed heavily. A whole hour and 30 minutes passed by since she started around 12:30 in the afternoon & the woman was so damn proud of herself.

The corners of her mouth upturned into a smile on her face. "I did it." She congratulated herself under her breath before straightening.

"We sure had a great run, huh?" Hinata rolled her eyes and turned around to look him dead in the face. "Leave me the hell alone!" Naruto didn't take that as factual, he just took that as a small attitude for whatever weird reason. "Totally get it, Sugar Pop. I don't like being bothered when I'm sweating either." Both of his hands stayed on his hips as he walked toward her, and when he made it in front of her, he smiled again & strangely stared.
