Jenna stared at Daniel's retreating form in shock. Had he actually just asked her to call him? With his girlfriend sitting across the room waiting for him? The audacity of the man! He had a lot of nerve, hitting on her when the entire night, he'd acted as though he didn't remember her. It made her wonder if he actually did remember her, or if he really didn't and just thought her attractive enough that he was interested in fucking her again. Apparently, she was his type. But he could kiss her ass.

She shook her head, and stuffed the credit card slip in her apron pocket before heading into the back to clean up. His table had drained her, emotionally and physically. He hadn't been a pain, but the two men at his table had been. They had run her non-stop and both of them had flirted with her. She'd wanted to throat punch them both.

"Jenna!"

She turned to see Tammy heading over to her, sympathy on her face.

"I know you're supposed to close tonight, but I will do it for you. Get your work done, and get out of here. I saw how those men ran you. I think you wore a path to their table. Go home and hold that sweet baby of yours," Tammy said, rubbing Jenna's arm. "I hope they left you a big fat tip."

Normally, she wouldn't dream of leaving early, but she really was exhausted both physically and emotionally, and needed some time to think. "Thank you, Tammy. I'll return the favor sometime."

"No worries, Dear. Daniel is usually a pretty easy table." Tammy picked up her tray and headed out of the kitchen. "You'll see next time he's here."

Jenna scoffed. She hope she never have to wait on him and his girlfriend again. She placed a pile of napkins on the counter. She had silverware to roll up before she could leave, along with a bit of side work. Rolling silverware was a mindless job and gave her some time to think over everything that had happened that night.

Knowing Daniel came in here on a regular basis had her thinking about their daughter. She didn't want to after the shit show she'd just endued, but she probably should tell him about Noelle. Not that she wanted child support or anything from him, but he did deserve to know that he had a daughter. If she could ever catch him here alone, perhaps she would tell him then. If he were to ever inadvertently find out, he'd probably be pissed that she hadn't told him, now that she'd seen him.

She wished she knew how werewolves felt about children born outside of the mate bond. She sighed and picked up her speed. The sooner she got her silverware rolled, the sooner she could go home. She was just glad that he was gone.

Jason climbed into his rental, along with his warrior, and nodded at him to drive. Then he mind linked his Beta, Leon. There's a girl on the inside of the diner, a server named Jenna. I want you to send two of the warriors there. Have them stay until she leaves, then follow her and find out where she lives. Stay on her until I say otherwise. I want to know everywhere she goes, who she's with, anything they think is important.

Yes Alpha, Leon responded.

Jason smiled to himself. He loved when things went better than he'd expected. He'd learned quite a bit tonight and he was pleased with how things were going.

Jason had always been ambitious, and he would do whatever was needed to get what he wanted. He had wanted the Alpha position of his current pack, so he'd taken out the Alpha two years ago. He'd been challenged five times since then, and had easily won each match. Challenges were always to the death unless one of the two involved submitted. No one ever submitted.

He was young to be an Alpha, and maybe a bit arrogant, but he felt like he had every right to be. He'd accomplished everything so far before the age of twenty-three, but he wasn't finished yet.

Now his sights were set on the Alpha King's throne. He'd been quietly observing the Alpha King since he'd started this mess with Charity, and, quite frankly, he thought that Daniel was weak. Daniel was his pack liaison, but he'd never actually met the King until recently.

He had to admit, most of his dealings with the pack had been with Charity, which annoyed him to no end. He had hoped that Charity would accept his offer. He wanted to possess her, especially since she hadn't seemed fazed by him dominating her. He wanted her to fear him.

He'd rejected his own Fated Mate because he didn't feel like she was worthy of him. She wasn't ranked and therefore was of no benefit to him. Charity on the other hand, was a Princess, and she could definitely help him take down her brother.

Once he'd studied him, and knew his weaknesses, he could run a coup d'é·tat. It was a decent plan, except that Charity was being difficult and not falling into line like he'd expected her to. Not that he minded. He enjoyed the chase.

He was looking forward to holding her down and seeing the fear in her eyes while he pounded into her. She'd submit to him whenever he demanded. She'd be completely under his control, whether she liked it or not.

He wasn't disappointed when she'd still refused him after he had made an offer on the land she was trying to purchase. He knew this was her project, but it still didn't seem close enough to her heart to make her want to give in.

Which was why Jason needed to find something that would. The waitress was of interest to him. He'd noticed the way that Daniel had watched her, the way he'd stumbled over his words when he'd ordered his food. He'd gone and paid too, and she'd been the one to take his payment, not that it mattered. But he wanted to know if there was something there.

That was the reason he'd purposely been so annoying, because he knew it was making the Alpha King angry, and Jason wanted to know why. He also knew he might be grasping at straws, but he wasn't about to waste the opportunity while he was in town.

He'd called in Leon, Shane and two other pack warriors, and made sure that they wore scent neutralizers and that he was nowhere near them. Given that there was only one hotel in this tiny dump of a town, they were still staying there as well, though they'd completely avoided each other. Jason knew he was being watched, and he would fly back to Virginia tomorrow with his tail tucked between his legs like the good little wolf he was, and let his Beta and warriors stay and do his dirty work. It was the best way to operate.

The moment the car doors were closed, Charity was shouting at him.  "What is wrong with you? What was that in there? You were so damn distracted through that whole entire meal and I wanted to punch you in the balls.

Good grief Daniel, you have been so moody for the last year, and I've rolled with it, but tonight? Tonight was the icing on your crappy cake! If you don't tell me what is going on with you, I swear I'm going to stick Mom on you!"

"Jason is a first rate tool," Daniel growled. He'd calmed down some. Jenna had been angry when Daniel had asked her to call him, but now she actually seemed much calmer, and it helped him relax for the first time that evening. She was probably glad that the whole lot of them were out of her diner.

'Can we go back?' Rafe asked hopefully.

'No. I don't trust Jason,' Daniel replied. That guy was a dickhead.

'Arrogant weasel,' Rafe muttered with annoyance. 'But you are right. He may be watching us.'

Daniel laughed out loud.
