"I didn't tell you because Jason could sense your emotions, and if you had gone into that situation completely relaxed, knowing he couldn't kill me, he would have known something was up. It was a complicated, messy situation. I'm so sorry, Jenna, that I did that to you. It was cruel." He resisted the urge to reach out and touch her. He could feel her anger, but to his surprise, it died.

She picked up a soft cloth and began to wash Noelle off. "I'm still annoyed with you for doing that to me, but I'll get over it. I saw the hopelessness in that pack's eyes. They needed you to fix it. Though I hated that they cheered at your death," she brushed at another tear.

"They weren't cheering for my death, Jenna. They were cheering when I got up and killed Jason," he told her quietly.

She glanced at him and sighed before turning her attention back to Noelle. "So, if I become a werewolf, will I be immortal as well?"

"Yes, as long as you're in my pack," Daniel said.

Jenna was quiet as she dried Noelle off, then began dressing her. If she stayed human, she would start to age, while Daniel would remain the same. Eventually, she would die and leave him alone. The thought broke her heart. "What about Noelle?" She picked up her baby and cuddled her close.

"Noelle is my heir. She will one day replace me and become the Alpha Queen of all werewolves." Daniel's eyes drifted to the tiny pup, and he felt Rafe push forward to look at her. They both already had so much love for her.

"And if she doesn't want to?" Jenna walked out of the bathroom and back into her bedroom.

Daniel lifted his eyebrows in surprise. Not taking the position of Alpha King had never even occurred to him. From the time he was old enough to be King, he had accepted that as his fate and the training that accompanied it. Of course, he had been born in a different time period, and one didn't question their duty. What would he do if Noelle decided she didn't want to be Queen? He remembered when he had first taken over how overwhelming the position had been. With the help of his pack members, he had streamlined everything as much as possible and relied on others to help him carry out his duties, making it easier on himself and his future generations to rule. "Then we'll have to make sure Noelle has siblings...if you choose to be with me."

Jenna turned back to him and flashed him a smile. "I've made up my mind already."

Daniel walked up to her with a frown. "Are you sure? You don't want time to think and talk to your family first?"

"No." She laid Noelle down on the bed and sat down herself, rubbing her neck. She wanted to shower and crawl into bed. "I think my decision was made when I saw you die. I want to be with you, and I want to become a werewolf. Discussing it with Talia over the last few years has sort of made me always want to be one, to have a mate, but I didn't think that was possible. Now I'm being given the opportunity. Plus, I have no desire to grow old while you remain young."

A big smile broke out over Daniel's face as he crossed the room to her and pulled her into his arms, hugging her tightly. "You're sure?" He could sense no reluctance, but he asked anyway.

"Yes, Daniel. I'm sure."

He pulled her against him, and she sighed happily, snuggling against him. Relief spread through both him and Rafe for the first time in a year. Jenna was his and wanted to be with him.

She pulled back reluctantly after a few moments. "I need a shower and then bed. I'm so tired."

"Okay." He let her go and stepped back while she walked into her closet, then disappeared into the bathroom.

'Told you she would be ours,' Rafe smirked, curling up in his mind.

He watched his pup sleep as he listened to Jenna in the shower. So close, and yet she might as well be a million miles away. Rafe had made sure that they could remember every inch of her body, and Daniel wondered how much it had changed in the last year.
