Aitana's POV
I pulled up to the field. A small smile on my face at the empty parking lot. I like to go to the training facility alone. It gave me space and time to mess around and just enjoy being on the field.
There was nothing I loved more than Futbol. It's my life. The best part of my life.
I prefer to go to the fields towards night. The sun is no longer blaring down. The sunset gently lighting the grass. It was just perfect in every aspect.
I set my ball down and juggled it for a few minutes. Freestyle was always fun to start things out with but I came to the field to work in finishing. They already call me the female Iniesta for a reason.
My confidence on the dribble in unmatched. If only my confidence off the field matched.
Everyone always sees me as cute little Aitana.
I stopped messing with the ball and took a seat on the field. I took a deep breath taking it all in as I felt safe. My thoughts rarely followed me here, but they did. Ofcourse they did. Because even the ball couldn't take away the thoughts surrounding my mind.
The name that was surrounding my thoughts...
McKinley Martin.
Why did her arrival anger me so much? If I just won player of the year, what was there to worry about? If I just won the World Cup what is my issue? If I got the golden ball award why was I afraid of losing my spot to McKinley Martin, the American midfielder?
"Wouldn't expect to see you here at this time."
FUCK.
I couldn't escape her. I come here all the time to be alone. I come here to relax and get better and now she has to ruin this too?
"Why are you here?"
She forced a toothless smile and held up her own ball and held her cleats in her other hand. Her face turned a little red as she looked away.
"I get it if you don't want to be bothered I'll stay on my half of the field and leave you alone." She mumbled and began to walk away.
"No why are you here? Why did you come to Barcelona?" I asked her again clarifying further what I meant.
"I'm sorry? I don't understand what you mean." She looked confused.
"Out of all the places you chose here."
"I did..."
"Why? You're fighting Alexia, Patri, Keira, Ingrid, me...all of us for playing time. You think that it was a good choice?" She shrugged moving her foot across the ball.
"I wanted to get away. I wanted to join the best women's club in the world."
"You wanted to? Did you even deserve to..." I rolled my eyes as I turned away and walked closer to my goal.
She kept her word luckily and left me the hell alone. I came here to focus not to be interrupted by the very thing overwhelming my mind.
'She wanted to join.' She doesn't deserve to play for Barcelona. She even admitted she was just running away from something. Its not like she loves Barcelona for Barcelona she just wants to play because we're the best. She probably just wants to have an easy winning team. Not like it'll matter much if she's just a bench warmer.
I huffed out a sigh as I collected my ball and set it up again for another free kick. I couldn't help fight the urge from looking up to see what she was up to though. So I reluctantly raised my eyes only to see hers already on me.
She gave me a small smile before turning around to take a free kick. She sent it into the upper left and did a small fist shake. It was a pretty good shot on the goal.
Maybe I wouldn't mind complementing her if she wasn't such an ass. She was just a walking red flag. Maybe it was the cocky smirk that always sat on her face or maybe it was the burning memory of the 2019 World Cup game that refused to let me like her.
Either way I hated McKinley Martin.
"Have a good night Aitana."
I looked up at the other girl who had her bag on her shoulders and helmet in her hand. I quirked an eyebrow raising a small smirk from the girl. That same smirk.
"Night."
"You're not gonna ask?"
"What would I need to ask about?"
"The helmet you're staring at?"
"You have a helmet cool. You probably ride a bike." I stated as if I knew immediately and it didn't take me a second to put two and two together.
"You know if you ever want to go on a ride I could give you one." She smiled boastfully.
"No thanks I choose life."
"I choose fun." She gave one last smile before walking off of the field.
It was getting late. I should probably get ready to leave. I need rest just as much as my extra practice. I walked over to my ball and began gathering my things before following suit and also leaving the training grounds.
-_-_-_-_
What are you up to right now?-O💜👭🏻
Just gathered my stuff to leave the field.
Movie night tonight?-O💜👭🏻

Me and you-O💜👭🏻
Let me go home and shower then I'll be right over. See ya in a bit.

Atleast one good thing would come out of today. Despite having my training and alone time ruined from the guest appearance from the American midfielder.
