"Grandfather!" Asakumo quickly bowed and kneeled on the floor, "Excuse my tardines." Master Akechi chuckled.

"Of course, Asakumo." Master Akechi laid down his bamboo brush, lifting his eyes to his granddaughter. "You requested a meeting?"

"Yes, Grandfather." Asakumo took a deep breath, sorting out her thoughts just like she was taught. "I met a Ronin on my mission, one of Chuuya's lackeys, no doubt. Grandfather, he said what was in the file could ruin the Samurai." she hesitated, "I-I gave my name, Mater Akechi."

To give your name was to break protocol. Your name was very powerful to anyone. A leverage against yourself. And to break protocol resulted in punishment.

Asakumo bowed, her face touching her hands. "Forgive me, Master. I will accept any punishment you issue." she was trained, taught, and made to accept anything from the Master. Up until now, Asakumo had never had to bow personally to Master Akechi.

Master Akechi sighed, resting his head in his hand. "You have never broken protocol before, so I won't be so hard on you. I will assign you to weapons and armor cleaning for three weeks. Especially the trainee armors." Asakumo flinched. The trainees never cleaned their things, much less their masks.

"Yes, Master Akechi. I promise this will never happen again." Asakumo bowed once more and hurried out of the room.

"And Asakumo," Master Akechi called after his granddaughter, "if you ever meet this Ronin again, and I think you will sooner or later, make him swear." another one of the protocols. To make the person you gave your name to swear secrecy of your name. If they don't, you banish them or kill them if they resist. For both Samurais and Ronins, oaths were powerful, and to break one meant the wrath of all Samurai, Ronins, and the youkai.

"Yes, Master." Asakumo inclined her head and made her way to the training arena, vowing to never break another protocol.

It's shorter, but I got the chance to introduce the Samurais a little more and how they are disciplined. Hope you enjoyed it and have a great day/night.
