15| Blue Beetle

Maybe it was the lack do sleep or maybe it was the adrenaline leaving her system that caused Gemma to practically go into a catatonic state as Rudy sped through the highway. She couldn't help but wonder to maybe hope that this was all some crazy dream that she was having.

"Is he okay? Jaime! Jaime!" Rudy yelled as he looked at the back seat. "Gemma! Snap out of it!"

"Sorry." Gemma said as she looked down at Jaime. His head was resting in her lap and he was still unconscious, but there wasn't much she could do but try to shake him awake. "Jaime?"

He was still covered in the armor coming from the scarab, and she couldn't look at any of his injuries. Gemma shook his shoulder a little harder, suddenly he was sitting up his armor disappearing in an instant.

"Don't look, don't look!" Jaime exclaimed but Gemma was already one step ahead of him as she had closed her eyes the instant she was the armor melting away.

"All right. I got a T-shirt. On the side." Rudy informed his eyes still focused on the road. 

"All right. Okay." Jaime said mostly to himself as he slipped the t-shirt over his head. Pulling is down lower he cover himself as best he could. There was some blood running down the side of his face and a cut on the cheek, but it didn't seem to bother him all that much. "Oh, that psycho almost killed me."

"You got the key?"

"Yeah." Jenny said her voice still shaken as she raised her arm showing them the watch in her wrist. Clearly like Gemma everything that had happened only a couple of minutes ago still hadn't fully processed in her head.

"Good. Now, let's go get that Scarab taken out of you." Rudy stated just as ready as all of them to get this over with as soon as possible. They had enough excitement to last them a lifetime the last 24 hours.

"Khaji-Da." Jaime said as he rubbed the back of his neck.

"Khaji que?"

"The Scarab's name is Khaji-Da." He clarified slowly just as confused as the rest of them as to why he knew its name.
